Long story... But the part I need help with is: I'm trying to get a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited started. It was running fine the other day...... It's a 5.2 v8 auto with 190k miles. It turns over and fires completely normal. It runs fine for 1 to 2 seconds and dies. No sputtering or anything, it just completely dies. But it fires up just fine. If I start it with the pedal floored it will rev up like it should for 1-2 seconds and just die, like all fuel is cut off even though the pedal is to the floor. I've done it 92394 billion times now and no change. If I don't touch the gas it starts up fine, idles for a second and dies. Any ideas? It has a full tank of gas... It's hooked up to an excursion wih jumper cables.. Also, the "security" system thing is going off, the lights are blinking and the dash is flashing (no horn though, and yes it works) etc, and I don't have the key fob so i can't turn it off. Could this be related..? No matter what i do, that security thing flashes until the battery dies. Any help would be great, I'm working on this now and need to get this puppy running!

Factory... And it's stopped doing that now. Everything is acting 100% normal until it just dies after it fires right up. It starts every time, but hasn't ran for more than 2 seconds yet...

plugs seem good because it's firing up fine.. I was thinking a ground, but would it start at all then? What about the fuel pump? I think that might be it, there is enough gas that gets in there to start it, but the pump isn't pumping anything maybe? Or maybe it's some electrical nightmare...

You think? I don't know the vehicle because it isn't mine (not yet...) How can I disable the security system? I'm not stealing it by the way, lol.

So. Apparently.. The problem is we're using the wrong key... So this key we have unlocks the doors, slides into the ignition, starts the jeep, then 2 seconds later the jeep says "ooop wrong key" and turns off.. Probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The owner is going to get his other set, he was using his spare key that is left here where I work.

for the security system, if you dont have the fob:

Lock and unlock the passenger side door. It will turn off the factory system. The older jeeps do have a built in fuel cut, but it takes a second for the security system to power up, verify the key or its issue, and shut off.

Glad you found the answer....sooner than I posted. I had a 93 GC Limited and a 96 and that factory security system was a PITA at times and I learned that same lesson back in 99.
