I've put my BOV on and off about 20 times and never changed that gasket. If you think its leaking it might be a wise $5 investment.

Mo, get a gasket installed and you should reset the ECU after you put in a gasket to seal the BOV.

Take off the negative connection to the battery. Hold brakes to use up the remaining battery power in the car. Wait around... maybe 10 minutes. Install negative battery cable. Let car idle for 10 mins and don't tap gas pedal. Turn off. Turn back on and drive it around as you normally do but get a good mix of easy and hard acceleration the next few miles to let your ECU relearn the best map.

Why should you reset the ecu?

Because Mo had a leaky BOV. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume the car had a boost leak the whole time Mo owned it. For that time, the ECU may have developed and relied on a fuel map that included that leak. Resetting the ECU after fixing this boost leak eliminates the chance that the ECU created and utilized an artificial fuel map.

You don't even need to do the "Vishnu reset." If your car is running (and tuned) properly, all you need to do is just a light acceleration in 3rd gear after the reset.

I've watched the IAM rise every time while doing this. Usually, it will just shoot up to 16 before you will even get the chance to do the brake/gas trick.

The ecu has target afr's to shoot for, so even with a leaky bov, his ecu will not make a new fuel map. Actually, the ecu doesn't alter the fuel map at all. All it will do is revert to the high det fuel map. The timing will change a bit depending on his dynamic advance. If he was not knocking then it should be at 16 and he should have full advance.

Mo, if you want to reset your ecu (I don't think it is needed), just do the vishnu reset and you will be good to go.
