Hello all, i'm in the market for a radar detector and am wondering which are the best. Post up any detectors you've had expirience with and your thoughs about them. Also if anyone here has one for sale please PM me with price Thanks alot Peter
V1 has been proven time and time again by car and driver to be the best by a long shot, personally I wouldn't buy anything less. I would maybe consider adding a radar jammer, though illegal in mn, I can't remember the exact name of the one I looked into, but it only blocks for like 5 seconds, and turns off, so you'd jam on your brakes and they'd still get a reading on you, after 5 seconds anyways.
and others. And it tells you the general direction it is coming from so you know if you passed it. It also gives you a count of how many. Very handy devise. I will never use anything else again.
V1 is great because it' not only one of the best to begin with, you can send it in to the company and get firmware updates. It may cost more, but you'll be keeping it around longer.
You can get your passport 8500 X2 updated as well. The V1 is a sweet detector too. Just don't go buy a cheap one thinking it will be good.
I have the escort solo2... its basically a cordless 8500. Works well. I just prefer the look and ability to take it off the windshield and bring it inside if the car can't be parked in the garage for the night.
basically it's a tossup between the k40, passport 8500 and v1. there might be minor diffrences here and there but not one worth noteing. if you have to have THE BEST get the k40 installed. i have a 8500, I'VE BEAT LASER 6 TIMES. all going 20+ over. i can't see a detector getting much better. just don't go any cheaper than the 8500f
from what ive been hearing the v1 is the way to go!! now does anyone have one for sale or knows where i can get one for a good price?
There isn't much room for deals on them, and really you want a current version one that supports pop radar, so you would need to be carful f you bough used, personally you should just save the cash buy new, sucks at $400, but worth every penny.
