I was just wondering after my morning drive,

    1. how many people run radar detectors hat have gotten recent tickets?

    and also

    2. how many people run radar detectors and have been ticket free.

It seems to me that since i stopped using a detector I've had better luck. And I know that if I do get pulled over with a detector I will get a ticket.

    any thoughts?

For me my old radar detector gave me false confidence. I got two tickets with it and no speeding tickets without.

I still find myself wanting one again, but unfortunately I believe the results would be the same.

The trick is to not be the lead car. If you have to be in the lead, watch your speed. Radar detectors give people false confidence because they feel they cannot be ticketed. I got a ticket with one, but I didn't even see the cop and he didn't tag me till I was already past him.

The best thing to do is not to speed. If you can't afford to get a ticket, then you cannot afford to speed. I have a radar detector still. I don't rely on it, but sometimes it comes in usefull so you know where NOT to mess around.

    It's a Rocky Mountain.

...so has anyone been ticketed for their radar detector? in MN it's illegal to have anything obstructing the view through the windshield (i.e. most radar detectors primary mounting spot).
been thinking about a V1 stealth mount.

I have a V1 in the stealth mount location and since having it I have gotten tickets but it was when I was being an idiot. The detector gave me the warning I was just an idiot and didn't listen to it. They can be very helpful but like many people have said, you begin to rely on them. They are only their to help you and if you can control your speeding they are great but if you speed everywhere then dont bother cause if you get pulled over with one automatic ticket but without a radar detector you got a chance at being let off

must have been half off day at Duncan Doughnuts! Seriously my cousin is a retired cop, and she always talked about giving tickets to people with detectors. That would be one of the reasons why I ditched mine. She also said that a good prortion of her tickets were from "pacing" the car in question.

I was parked in a lot. I was with a group of high profile cars doing high profile things. If you know what I mean. ;) Wrong place wrong time.

from what i've read, radar detectors are legal in MN. you just can't have it on the windshield. I mount my passport 8500 on my dash and i've never gotten crap from cops at all. Oh and i've never gotten a ticket with mine. i've gotten 2 tickets in the past but it's because i was careless....d'oh!
