That was my issue too. It's going to be at least 3 1/2 hours for me but I'm going because a bunch of my friends from chi-town are going to make it.
http://www.w-a-g.org/events/rallycross/2005/2005-12-04/info.htm Here's the flyer for the event. I'm still going for sure and should have my car lifted a little bit after t-giving so I'm excited to romp on the suspension
HAHA!!!! I never noticed that    Here is a site that has recently taken some pics of the "raceway" http://www.geocities.com/cwscc2001/pictures.html Look at it, I can't wait
Hotels New to this board. Pretty cool place. I plan on taking my Saabaru 9-2x to this event. However, due to the distance I will likely drive there the day before--are there any hotels around this place? Seems like it would be a fun event. Thanks for posting this Chris
That sound like fun do you guys think should run my saturn in it? my audi is dropped way to low for that. but I think I would still have fun in a FWD auto SL1.
Off road + Rally-X + Turbo Turtle = PARTY TIME! Count me in! Stevens Point or Madison would be a good place to get a hotel. And the run up or down I-39 is incredible! Beautiful, hilly and mostly cop free. That's where I do my top speed runs when I'm in the area. Stevens Point is a nice small college town, but trust me, they know how to get FUNKY! And Madison is your typical large college town, plently of bars in town. I have some friends in WI that I can round up for this event... Assuming 25+ people register. Come on folks, this will be sweet! And the drive is super short, it flies by in no time! ~Dan
Don't know if you're serious or not, but do NOT run your Saturn in it. You'll bend the engine sub frame after a few laps! ~Dan
I think I'm going to head down early that morning. I'm glad there are some more people going. We'll have some fun for sure!
For those that have done rally cross before... Are snow tires considered a modification--would they be classed as "Rally Tires" I just don't know if these crappy Potenza Re01 (or whatever) are going to be a good idea--I was contemplating snows anyways Thanks for suggestions Chris
I don't think it would be considered as rally tires. They're your everyday daily driving tires so I wouldn't worry. I don't know what class I'm going to be in and to be honest I don't really care because I'm out there to just have fun. I usually look at cars similiar in power to determine who I'm up against
This is going to be so much fun. And it is my birthday which makes it even better. Maybe if I really like it I will use my stock wheels with some aggressive all-seasons for next year--BBS RK's for the summer. Now I am just nervous about mudflaps--no 9-2x owners have yet to successfully modify or find flaps that work. I would be willing to screw around but all my tools are back at my family's house and I can't work in my apartment parking lot. Maybe next season. I will look for you there. I will be the guy who looks out of place in a black Saab 9-2x. Cheers
I'll talk to you for sure. I'll be in a silver rs and will be hanging out with my friend and his black rs with a ver. 5 swap. I love the saab's and always wanted one, but I love my rs too much right now to trade it in.
I've got most of my tools here in West Bloomington, I'll be happy to help you out. All we need to do is find some material and the time to do this! You can start looking here. You should also investigate SS hardware. I have not registered yet. I don't want to commit to this until I know that more than the minimum amount of people have signed up. If they don't make the minimum (25 I believe) then there won't be any event  . I'll email the dude to find out. snbrd4ever - I thought you lived in Duluth? I met you there on that sweet Duluth trip. I also let us all through that wild mud pit with that honkin' rock sticking out where you bent your skid plate. You're alright by me! So we should definately tally up a poll of who's going to want a hotel and shack up together and save $$$. Also we can corrdinate the beverages ~Dan
That actually sounds like a good plan. And I'm not from Duluth, I go to school about an hour and a half east of Duluth (but it's close enough ). I'll give my friend a call and see what he thinks about shacking up in a hotel the night before and partying a bit. I think Steven's Point would probably be best as it's pretty close (I think it would be a 20 minute drive at the most from there). And I'm getting a new skidplate before the event, this time it's going to be 3/16th aluminum and have a front lip so I don't catch a rock head on again
Got an email back from the dude: Do snow tires count as Rally tires?[No] Does a standard Subaru seat belt count as a 3-point harness?[Yes] Will there be a safe place we can stash our unnecessary items, such as spare tire, subwoofer boxes and luggage?[lLarge grass field- might be covered with snow by then] are mud flaps required? [Nope] And, most importantly, I heard you'll need 25+ people to addend to make this happen; how does the registration list look? [Currently have 6 entries so encourage all you friends to Pre-Reg. soon-please note that no money is needed to Pre Reg- we take your money only at the event ] That's the email he sent back answering my questions. I'll be pre-registering. I also asked about a hotel and he's looking into it. ~Dan
I talked to my friend and he's going for sure. So if we want to get a hotel down in Steven's Point that'd be cool.
He is my friend also, but I'm talking about powerlabs in his sti ra swapped GC8 (which I beat by 5 seconds at the last auto-x  )
I know, I know, you'll kick my ass at the rally-x, I deserve it  I was just joking around, I know your car is significantly faster than mine and has a far better engine. I think I got away with it because I have leda's. I didn't get a chance to raise it this weekend, so I hope it's smooth 8)
