It's not really that bad, St. Cloud-type distance, and I used to commute St. Cloud-Eden Prairie daily for work. The plus side is is a good sized space and there's a heated building, which makes it pretty much unique in our RallyCross venues.
wow, looking at the entry list, seems like there's no character limit for the "car number" column. registered. thanks again ylime!
Actually, Brent probably did as much work as I've done, at least so far, and will probably be as busy as me on the day of
The entry form is bad practice, really. I need to rewrite a bunch, or more specifically do more field validation. Next year we will likely go to a reserved number system, where you won't be able to pick or use a reserved number, or a number already taken by someone preregistered before you (who doesn't have a season-long reserved number).
Sounds good. I'll be without internet for the next few days, so I won't be able to respond to any questions until Monday.
Don't give him so much credit It is your brain child  looking at the registration so far I am the only person not in a subaru...hmmmm......
Yes, I believe so. It will have the same tech requirements as any other RallyCross; so I would expect FRS radios to be necessary.
hrmmmmmm my gf flys in from texas at 10 am...maybe i should swing by there might be a good minnesota thing to show her we'll be heading to st cloud anyways that night
I'm seriously in need of people to volunteer to help out at the event, doing starting and timing and setting up knocked over cones primarily, along with registration at the start of the day and someone to watch for people coming in and getting them waivered/wristbanded. If you're willing to help, please pm me or e-mail to [email protected] thanks!
I'll help wherever I can Mark. I'll try to wrangle up a few extra people to bring along as well. Let's go people, I know we could all use a tune up of the skills before the ice race. This is a great opportunity to get slidewayz:yumyum: in a controlled, legal, and safe spot. With this few entrants the seat time will be huge as well.
I will certainly put you and anyone you bring to work But since you're participating, you can't help with some of the stuff. Really, I need 6-8 people minimum, more would be great (read, would allow us to run all day without making drivers work).
Check this thread for a start. http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17715 The SCCA RallyCross ruleset is here: http://cms.scca.com/documents/Rally Rules/2008rulescomplete20071211.pdf Specifically you should pay attention to the safety requirements. The checklist we use when tech-ing cars is here: http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/2008RallyCrossRegistration.pdf Incidentally, rule changes for 2009 are also listed here: http://scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=50 The class itself will concentrate on RallyCross specific skills, and not the absolute basics, but I think we're going to have at least a couple of people who are completely new, and it may make sense to at least spend a few minutes going over the basics.
I'll be signing up on payday so don't worry....I'll be there to cut the final corner of the course:laugh:
I wont be able to make this, unfortunately. I broke a strut top somehow (the studs, anyway), so... repairs come first.
I was thinking about signing up for this however... the subaru is my DD till i pick up my company car in acouple weeks so id ecided not to. But i am intrested in helping. PM inc
I believe that the studs can be replaced, if the rest of the tophat is in good shape. Not necessarily via Subaru, but there's a guy who's making 1" lift kits for the Impreza, and I believe his spacer goes between the top hat and the strut tower, and uses longer studs (that's how I happen to know that the studs can be pounded out and new ones pouned in).
Yes, the studs are replaceable. I had a stripped one and was able to hammer it out and press a new one in. I suppose I could've used washers or a strut bar too since only the bottom couple threads were stripped. Didn't run it for long before replacing it with camber plates, so I can't speak to it's durability. Anyway, I should have a set of replacement front top hats.
You know what? I think I will. Plus, the more miles I can put toward breaking in my new clutch and flywheel, the better.
Yeah, front. I should've asked around before I called up the local dealer and ordered some replacements, apparently. :hsugh:
If you need it, i can spot you some cash for teh schooling. New helmet was less than expected, have budget surplus.
I would really like to sign up for this. My girlfriend wants to do it too, but she is nervous because she would be a complete noob to this whole thing. She would also be driving her Mazda 3 sedan. I was telling her she should try it because she really is interested, but she is just a little nervous about it.:ugh: What do you guys think? Would this be a good time/event for her to start? This would also be my first rallycross event, but I'm not new to the whole snow/slippery driving/drifting thing. Afterall, isn't that why we really drive these cars...
There was someone running a Mazda Protege at the site this is located at, when we held a race there this September. Nothing ill happened to it, far as I can recall. Just be mindful of the ruts and it'll be fine. The school would be a good place to learn, and at any rate ... seat time is seat time is seat time. Can't be any worse than jumping in cold halfway through the season. @Andrew - Nah, its alright. I'll just put whatever leftovers I have after fixing it towards the other car control event this winter. Thanks, though.
@platinum: This would be a *fantastic* time for her to start. There is no pressure, she will have plenty of people around to ask questions of, and she can limit herself to wherever she feels comfortable.
I am signed up, while I am not a total noob to this, I haven't driven at a rallycross in over 2 years. I think she would benefit from the school. There are a lot of great instructors for us to learn from. This is a great event for starting or just honing skills. Carrie
Well I have recruited 2 volunteers for sure. Everyone beg your family and friends. Less volunteers = less seat time.
I think this is going to be a lot of fun with some snow on the ground. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll plan on getting there early and help with whatever I can. But yeah, volunteers are great, thank you in advance for anyone who is volunteering at this event.
