Another project.... Background. I bought this '89 XT6 on Black Friday almost 4 years ago. Made it up to Rich's a couple times that winter: Then a woman pulled out in front of me one night the following July.....and this happened: The car was insured, but it wasn't her car, so that insurance company told me to pound sand. Her license was suspended, and the address was massively out of date. I was delivering at the time, so my insurance company told me to pound sand. My last option was to sue her, but they couldn't track her down to serve the papers. So I got screwed.... The following Thanksgiving weekend, I picked up an '88 XT6 This one was massively rusty, but had an extremely rare Kaminari Body kit (or most of it), so I bought it. Rebuilt the tranny, and daily drove it for 8 or 9 months, when I decided to part it out (and bought my Celica). I held onto the body parts to fix the '89. Over the last couple years, I've had virtually zero time/patience to do anything with it. But still refused to sell it for a price anyone would pay. But, after attending a few RallyXs as a spectator over the last year or so, I've decided to fix it up, and race it. Neglect Put a new fender on it.....closed the hood........huh So Fixed After extensive use of the hammer and high-lift....I got all the "new" body panels mounted. Thinking a race car paint job to break up the 2 colors: As it sits, it's a 4EAT, 2.7L H6. EJ front GR2s with WRX front springs, 276mm 2-piston front brakes (ver. 1 WRX, IIRC), FWD Legacy front axles, stock XT6 sway bar with poly bushings, stock rear XT6 sway bar with poly bushings, stock XT6 rear hubs/rotors, Nissan 200SX rear calipers (same as the XT6 calipers, but with a mechanical ebrake mechanism). GR2 rears with Eibach 250lb/in springs Plans. Remove front sway bar, install Legacy ebrake handle and cables, Legacy 15" alloys with used stage Rally tires (probably cut for more grip at the slower speeds of RallyX). Remove A/C. Adjustable radius rods for more castor. Possibly convert to EJ rear brakes for the drum-in-disc ebrake setup. I've got an EJ TCU that I might wire in, as it's got a better processer unit which would improve the function of the transmission (especially the AWD function). Racing harness, possibly seat Tube intake, exhaust mods, 91 octane and more ignition advance (good thing about a distributor....). I'm still not 100% sure if converting from air struts to coils puts me in modified class, or if I still have a prayer to stay in prepared. That will effect some of the rest of the mods. I plan on being at the September 16th RallyX.
