His car will be on display all day at the store if you want to check that out, Ken Block's vehicle will be down at MOA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Calling all Rebels! Special Exhibit of Rally America Extreme Motorsports Race Cars on Display at Mall of America/Sam Goody Central on August 24, 2005 Rally Extreme Motorsports is the immensely popular high-speed, vehicle sensation sweeping the nation. Come see what it’s all about! BLOOMINGTON, MN, AUGUST 19, 2005 – Rally America, in conjunction with Subaru, Subenet and the Mall of America, today announced a special one-day Extreme Motorsports rally car exhibit to be held Wednesday, August 24 at Sam Goody Central (Rotunda) at Mall of America. Rally Extreme Motorsports originated in Europe and is now sweeping the United States as the hottest new trend in motorsports. J.B. Niday, Rally America’s Managing Director said, “Rally is a high-speed, extreme motorsport – these high tech, high power cars race at over 100 miles per hour, thru weather conditions ranging from the blazing desert heat to blinding snow. The cars, which race for two days in a row, blast down unpaved logging roads, and barrel over gravel paths filled with hair-pin switch backs.†James Han, Manager of Motorsports at Subaru added, "Subaru is proud to be a major sponsor of Rally Fest. No other motorsport tests the skills and endurance of drivers like Rallying. Teams must be adept in preparing for and racing on all types of road surfaces, terrains, and weather conditions. Since drivers are not allowed to practice on the competitive stages, each turn poses a different challenge for participants. Building cars to take this sort of punishment is a feat in itself. We invite all extreme sports and performance enthusiasts to check out the amazing display of Rally cars and meet some of the Drivers on Wednesday, August 24 at Mall of America (Sam Goody Center/Rotunda). If you are not a fan before checking out Rally Fest, you will be after you visit." Eight Rally Racing cars, along with highlight video clips of a rally race, will be showcased in the rotunda from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Travis Pastrana, the 2005, 2-time X-Game medalist, and Subaru rally racer will be signing autographs from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Rotunda. The other drivers on hand are: Lauchlin O’Sullivan, 1984 World Champion Stig Blomquist, Matt Johnson, Pat Richard (also known for his snowboarding career), Mark Utecht, (who was previously was involved in ice racing/road racing and is a past Rally Champion), and Matt Iorio. The public will be able to get close up and personal with the cars, specifically the Subaru racing cars and drivers.) About Rally America Rally America is an official sanctioning body for the sport of Rally Racing in the United States. Rally racing originated in Europe nearly 100 years ago, and is a fixture on the European extreme sports scene. Rally racing is gaining momentum in the US and is rapidly becoming one of the most popular extreme motorsports in the nation. For more on Rally America: www.rally-america.com
Why? You want an ass-kicking so hard that you'll bleed for days? i've seen some of these guys drive. all you can say is wow. i swear they have no fear.
whos all going? it sounds like fun! they should set up a coen course in the lot to "demonstrate" exactly what these cars are capable of.
2 years ago we had a short stage out in Lions Park in Corcoran- The problem with MOA is 2 fold, as the big lot across the street is due for construction of phase 2 (expansion of MOA) soon, and the cars that are in the mall cannot be removed untill after the mall closes. We would like to run a super special of some sort again, possibly next year. Scott
Glad you finally found your way here Scott. I still think they should close off Camp Snoopy for a super-special. Speaking of the rally I ran into Stig Blomqvist's crew next door to my work in Maple Grove. Apparently they're sharing the garage with the CPD cars out there somewhere (I think near ProKart?). It was just kinda neat to run into these guys from England wearing their team shirts at the tobacco shop I frequent. One of the guys that works at the shop there has a WRX and we were joking with them to get their service vehicle (are they borrowing one of CPDs or what?) and show him how they do the 15-minute tranny swap
Getting your arse kicked by a pro is worth serious bragging rights. Just gotta get him to ding your front fender just a bit so you can brag up the battle scar.
re thinking this...... i now have a new goal in life. driving a Suabru rally car (preferably WRC) around in the mall of america    8)
The only time his front fender will be anywhere near one of the GpN (or heaven forbid one of the fire-breathing O cars) is when he's pulling up to the line with it
Did anyone go to this? I did lots of cool cars plus i got travis' autograph. They also had the '06 STi there with that weird grill but it looked good.
