Is it just me or does the officer sound like an a**hole? http://www.hometownsource.com/trooper/2005/February/2oppressed.html
Wow, I think the cop missed the point and started throwing some personal attacks back at the person that posted. The officer didn't even address the original concern....why trucks/vans...can have darker tint but passenger cars cannot.
Meh - the kid's rant got a little off topic when he started talking about terrorism and the like, but the trooper sure did a great job of avoiding the real questions he had. I like the "If you don't love it, leave it" argument the trooper gives at the end...nevermind trying to change things...move to hudson!
nice to know that these are the people that you know... can give us tickets and give an unbiased "official and professional" judgment. damn im tempted to start my government and america rant.... but i wont
Am I the only one completely scared that a Police officer thinks that citizens have to many rights and freedoms? That is insane! America's continued protection of personal liberty is what makes America great!
I think the troopers response is good. There is no good logic behind the differences in regulations for tint (or sound emissions for that matter) between different vehicle types. He can't address it directly because it would open a can of worms that would be a lose-lose situation for him. The only way for him not to lose in addressing that question is to elude to the fact that *he* didn't make it that way and that different people have different views. People throw words like "oppression" around too casually just to make whatever point they're trying to make seem more important.
Total **** head, the problem is, the cops have way too much power and they love to abuse it. Lets give someone a window tint ticket but ignore the person with expired tabs going 40 in a 30 that just drove by with one headlight. I have met maybe 2 cops that were decent down to earth people. All others, they are on power trips because they got picked on in highschool. So to you mr Sgt. Dave Marquart go suck a ****
The reason that trucks, vans, etc can have darker (privacy) glass is because they are classified as multipurpose vehicles by the goverment. The guidelines for those are much different than a vehicle classed as a passenger car. It doesn't just cover windows either. The side impact standard for them is 30 years old, IIRC. The fuel economy standards are also different. Some passenger cars (ie Chrysler PT Cruiser) are classed as multi purpose vehicles, so they can have rear privacy glass. Any Truck/SUV is also classed under the MPV category, so that's how they get it stock from the factory. Also, for what it's worth...I had a chance to work with that particular Trooper last year and he was a very good guy to work with. Very dedicated to his job, and a great teacher with kids. He died a few months ago from end stage cancer.
may he rest in peace. Most cops are very easy to work with when being pulled over. Its just sometimes there are the bad ones that people tend to notice more and thats how they portray all cops.
I think the whole thing needs to get reformed. there are some many biases and wierd rules which just mess up the system like brian said som of this stuff is really old and needs to be updated. Vehicle noise rules is one of the things which i personly have a grudge with. not that they exist, but how they are enforced. motorcycles and trucks can have exhuasts that make your ears bleed but if so as much as put a catback on your car you are more likely to get a vehicle noise ticket. there needs to be an equal playing feild between all models car and trucks. although on the plus side i could black out the rear window on teh brat, MPV FTW. lol
WOW what a D**K, they pull us over cuz they hate the fact that we have nicer cars then they had or can ever afford, unless they keep pulling us over for going 56 on a 55 mile hwy. his reply was totaly off topic and he took it personal. sounds like a true trooper. FCUK Tard
Yes, I'm sure that the only reason we get pulled over is because we have a nicer car than they do. I bet you have no idea what a State Trooper makes starting out, or what they make with a few years on the job. I'll give you a hint, it's just south of 60k a year starting. I'm pretty sure they can afford a nicer car than our Subarus. Subaru isn't the end all/be all of auto manufacturers. Unless you have something intelligent to add to the conversation (and if your last post is any indication, you don't) feel free to step back from the keyboard.
+1. If you disagree with what the trooper said, at least quote what he said & explain why it's wrong & offer your own words of wisdom as to how it *should* be. Not just, "dude, cops pull us over for tint & it sucks".

as there will also be many douchebags who speed, DRINK & DRIVE, street race, yada yada yada to take the place of everyone else too... then come onto forums and complain for getting caught!!! I have 35% tinit all round and have not been looked at by a cop in the last 3yrs...(actually I lie - plenty of times I have been looked at, and I looked straight at them smiled and nodded... they smile and go ont heir way - I even drive past them on the highway 5 miles over the limit at times) I guess its either cause I dont drive like an idiot, or the business graphics help a little to stay the officer form attacking... btu the attitude shown on here probably examlifies the attitude people have when dealing witht he police, and they wonder why they are treated badly..you act like a punk I say get treated like one... you act maturely and get treated better...
I don't drive like an idiot either, but appearantly I am suspicious because come home from work at 1:00 AM - driving speed limit, or on I-90 at midnight - again driving speed limit. No other reason for pulling me over other than they thought my tint was too dark (35% - now 50%). I think that's rediculous. I'm only really fighting the ticket because my insurance will up me 2 pts for an "equipment violation" - or some nonsense. I've thought about changing my insurance too.
I agree with that, but when you get pulled over, treat the cop with respect and they still shat on you...there isn't much you can do about it except bite your tounge and not say anything disrespectful. Even though you would really like to tell them what you think, its better to just say the bare minimum to them.
so how tinted could our windows be? because i heard that u needed 65 percent visibility or more for it to be legal in mn or something? i've got 35 percent tints on mines so i was wondering.........?
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/MN/ From 1985 lmfao we need this revised. Lets write a letter to Pawlenty
