My apologies if this gets hated on real quick like, but I've wanted to make this thread for a while now. Somewhere I, and anyone else who cares to join, can ask random questions without catching too much flak regardless of how dumb the asker might think it is. For me personally, it'll probably save on creating a bunch of threads that have one lame question and I can pile them all into here. Anybody reading can answer any question posted if they feel like (reply/quote that specific one), preferably in a beneficial way, but some lighthearted humor is always a good thing as well.

I was going to post it in the off-topic section, just in case somebody wanted to post a non-vehicle related question that somebody on here most likely has expertise in. If somebody thinks that's a better idea, then have at it. For now, I guess I'll stick to just 4-wheel specific questions.

Anywho, I'll start this out with a few doozies (remember, there's no shame in my game).

    1. I installed a new, stock replacement clutch in the WRX ('03) this winter while redoing the heads. I don't have oodles of experience with manuals, other than I know how to drive them (intermediate, NOT expert). I feel like it grabs pretty aggressively and is somewhat of an annoyance at times taking off from a stop. Have to give it a decent amount of gas to start off smoothly and even shifting at certain times seems a little harsh, almost like it's harder to "ease" into it than before. Is this something that's normal with a new clutch? Will it go away after a while (I've got a pretty solid number of miles on it now)? The wife commented on it the other day saying that she doesn't really like the car that much anymore and that it feels like it's made for the race track, and not the road. Is that really a bad thing? (<--rhetorical)

    2. Does anybody else feel like their car has "off" days? I don't know if I'm clinically insane or what, but even my old Crown Vic (Interceptor) felt like it had off days. Somedays you'll hop in it and it just runs perfectly smooth, feels like the power's there, everything's good. Other days, it sounds totally different, feels doggy, have an overwhelming feeling like something's "wrong". And sometimes it even happens during the same day. I'm sure the weather (temp, humidity, etc) has some sort of play in that, but it really messes with my head at times.

    3. I've got a '95 Legacy wagon with ~220k on it. Obviously not a performance car, and it's even worse driving it after a couple days in the WRX. Does anybody else have one of these, or something similar? And does it feel like an absolute turd? I know she's tired, but holy sh!t. Sometimes I feel like when I shift into the next gear it's like I hit a wall of air and she doesn't wanna go anymore. Still gets 25+ mpg consistently, so maybe I should stop talking about her before she hears me...

    4. Has anybody ever put true duals on an NA motor Subaru? Obviously you couldn't with a turbo car, and they get their rumbles from the UEL headers. Was wondering what an NA one would sound like if you ran true duals from front to back. I'd have to admit it might not sound that great, but have a feeling like it would be oddly cool, too, given the motor configuration. I'm sure it's been done somewhere but can't seem to find a video/audio sampling.

This one ended up going way long as I suck at getting to the point...

    5. Lastly, for now, this one's just a total hypothetical, wish upon a star, type question. Gonna quote TMF's post from a different thread to save a thread jack and open it up to more people.

At some point in the next couple years I'd like to think I'll be able to "upgrade" from our bugeye to something a little newer/"cooler"/semi-more reliable. All I hear about anything that combines "Subaru" and "turbo" in the same line is it's never good. For probably half of my life (30 now) I've been dreaming of having an '04-'05 body STi (thanks video games...). Mainly because racecar. To be honest, it's almost completely the look. I'm sure someday I'll outgrow it, but for now I just can't get over the massive scoop and wing, plus the added body flares. If it weren't for that, I can't stand the look of an Impreza sedan. Just gross to me. On the other hand, I have a weird obsession with anything station wagon. Usually dig the looks, and totally dig the functionality.

I know a lot of people hate it, but I really do like the look of the bugeye front end. And really hated the '08+ style STI's when they came out because they just weren't an STi (looks wise). However, having owned a WRX wagon and seen the '08+'s around for a while, they've definitely grown on me (STI trim level only, tho). I probably wouldn't mind rocking the bugeye for an extended period of time if I could get to a point where I feel like it's running as correctly as possible, but am just slowly getting tired of doing this, doing that, this little thing here, little thing there, and on top of that still always feeling like there's probably something wrong (currently, possible exhaust leak and the funky clutch stuff).

Also, all of this (in regards to '08+ WRX vs STI looks):

    TL,DR
Like function over form for the most part (mainly just the wagon aspect).
    Dislike nagging unreliablity.
Really like the looks of (most) STi's, but don't necessarily need the performance, or the insurance payments...
I'm a "daily driver" type guy, never track, and about as bad ass as I get is getting up to 80-ish when merging onto the interstate, then quickly coasting back down to speed limit.
    Must have rumbles.

Taking into account all of the pros & cons of the Subaru world, what are your suggestions?

Sorry, I don't have any answers just questions.

Anyone else think that TL,DRs should be at the top instead of the bottom of posts?
I always put them at the bottom. But seems strange.

I always put it at the bottom since most people will probably look at the post and go "holy sh!t, that's way too much to read..." and just scroll down.

Yeah, I always see them at the bottom.
I do understand what you mean when you ask if cars have on and off days.
I have long thought that there were days that are completely off and then the next day everything is fine.

Too many questions, only going to respond to the last one since you quoted me several times. :)

I have owned Blu(my WRB bugeye) since 2003 and have always loved it! Despite the first run of a completely new car as Subaru moved away from the GC body, she has been a dream to own. Little issues over 12 years of ownership. I did redo the tranny at 140k and the motor at 195k, but mostly just maintenence stuff.

Loved it so much that i found an 02 Aspen White WRX because ol blu has been through the ringer and swapped my hybrid motor and interior into it. I have a bit of an obsession for the bugeye.

Now, the wife says that in a year or so that we can look into a newer car and KEEP THE BUGEYE...i say, "where do i sign?" We just had a baby girl about 5 months ago and the sedan is less than desirable for children. So i am looking at 2010 WRX and 2008 STi hatchbacks. Really want to get back into a WRB one like this one that i found!

The newer body style has grown on me for sure and i was not a fan when the GD's went away. But i stand by my other posts(sorry MeatyBear) in saying that it would have to be 2010+.

Also...how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?? I've always wondered.
