RARE JDM 18" FS: Southern Ways S-05 Wheels - 18x8.5+35 - LIGHTWEIGHT & FORGED - Track

Putting all my wheels for sale since I traded in my 2015 WRX. Had a couple really rare set of very nice wheels and this is the other set. The wheels are 18" Southern Way S-05's. They are JDM, never for sale in the USA, I'm not aware of another set of these in this size in the entire United States.

They are incredibly lightweight (I think they weigh 15.5-16 lbs/wheel) and forged. They are super high quality wheels and cost over $3400-3500 usd in Japan.

They have the dual valve system for those die hard track guys that use nitrogen. They were developed as a motorsport wheel but look great and can be used on the street without any issue.

Condition wise they are near mint, with just a minor scuff here and there which are BARELY noticeable. I had a hard time taking a picture of the scuff I found. No bends/cracks/curb rash/chips

Cool wheels. I'm surprised they are multi-drill at that price. What is the other bolt pattern?

 

To my knowledge it is only 5x114. If I were to guess the extra holes are to further reduce the weight of the wheel. May seem unintuitive, but it done very frequently on high end Porsche CenterLock wheels & other high end wheels (although usually not drilled the full way through)

I believe the centerlock design you describe had multiple holes with the same PCD to allow faster wheel changes for motorsport. Easier to line up the wheel. Side benefit is lighter weight. Interesting to see that concept on a street wheel designed with standard lugs.

 

Interesting! I think these were designed for motorsport use, but people use them on the street since they are durable/strong & lightweight.

They aren't magnesium which should be strictly used for the track.

Wheels straight on cement. *Cringe* I don't even put my replica wheels down like that. I had a hard time even putting them in the grass!

Lol I'm VERY careful with my wheels... It's not like I rolled them there, they were picked up and placed lightly to take some quick pics.

Many people have asked and yes, I measured them. Exact same distance no matter which holes I measure.
