Hello! Since 2008/2009ish, I have been around this community, learning about ways to enhance my 2004 WRX. To say that I am grateful for the friendships formed over "Juliette" (my 04 WRX), and the countless ways this community has helped and supported me with her would be an understatement. I have been beyond grateful for all of your support and advice in that adventure. That car was beyond awesome and I am sure that there will be many days that I will regret moving on from her. But alas, it was time for a change. And I'm grateful to have a buyer lined up that I have no doubt in my mind will enjoy the car as much as I did. Onto the new car... I was really into the idea of finding an 11+ WRX 5 door for my next vehicle, and spent quite a while watching for the right one. However, something else caught my eye a few months ago, that I had started to search for since. I'd like to introduce the next adventure, Ellen. She is a 2014 Forester XT Premium, and so far I have been extremely happy with her! I found the car at St. Cloud Subaru, and it only had about 23,000 miles on it (FWIW, that was a very pleasant experience, and Jacob was great to do business with). Going from Java Black Pearl to Satin White Pearl is quite a switch, but I am really like it more and more. I am looking forward to learning about this new EJ Forester, and hopefully finding a few small ways to really make it my own. So far my "mod" list is limited to adding factory aero crossbars, cargo cover and cargo tray. My apologies for the cell phone pics, and the fact that you have to look at my ugly mug in one of them. Hopefully will get some better photos in the not too distant future.
Looks great J! Thats quite the change for sure, 10 years newer and 1000 times whiter!!! Looking forward to seeing the transformation as it occurs.
Awesome man, I'm glad to see you went the XT route! I'll admit...I'm jeally. I would love one of those for a DD. Do you mind me asking how much you paid?
Thanks guys! It was tough to say goodbye to that WRX! Hopefully I can afford to do a project one down the road, so I can pick up where I left off. I must say, the more I look at that white, I love it. I got it for $24.9k. With the trade-in/pass through, it made it quite reasonable, especially in comparison to 2014/15 2.5 models. It was a little higher than I was looking to spend, but I am extremely happy with it. They threw in the crossbars for me, and I just added the cargo cover and tray.
Thanks all! Things I've really enjoyed in week 1... 33.2 mpg driving to and from St. Cloud in weather (and avg. 25-27 mpg around town), hands free calling/tech specs of this car (nothing outrageous, but just nice little amenities), decent sound system, feels car like and has great pick up for what it is, the approaching lights, being able to make a Costco run that included snack for the entire after-school program that I coordinate, plus a few items for our home while still fitting four adults in the car comfortably. And that sunroof... The CVT is extremely smooth as well, and I am anxious to learn better the different driving modes (Intelligent, Sport, Sport Sharp, X-Drive). At some point I will make a more detailed thread with more in-depth reviews, but those are the big ones for week one.
Isn't Bluetooth the greatest? It's the little things that really add up. Enjoy it. Does it still have the new car smell being a 2014? If they could bottle that smell truely, I would buy it every time I could.
Congrats! I totally missed the fact that it was an XT when we were texting. The motor is an FA by the way
