I have a 2000 2.5 rs and the rear wheel bearing is shot.
It makes a horrible noise everytime I drive it. A shop near by
wanted close to $500 to fix it. I was thinkin of doing most of the work
myself and just bring in the needed part and have them pull and
press the new bearing. Anyone know a good shop to go to for this or
should I take it to the dealership?
    Thanks

$500 seems extremely steep!!! :eek4: :eek4: The bearing should cost you less than 75 bucks....At least from what I've seen.

Someone on here should be able to help. go to the shop section of the website and you should find someone.

its 2.3hrs hours with 4wd, abs and drum brakes on your car for one side bearing by alldata which a lot of repair shops go by....

its 1.8hr with abs, 4wd... which means through our store those are both for ONE bearing installed

$90 / hr $200 labor roughly the wheel bearing would be about $150 through us... yes you can get it cheaper but we are a business and we do have some markup....

but that puts you well under $400 with tax and everything for A wheel bearing installed... both sides adds a lot more... not quite double...

$273 at Midas brookdale pending everything will come off i.e. rusted on bushings on the bolt that holds lateral links and trailing arms to hub assembly. I did that with the first wheelbearing and they were nice. The second time they were b****** so i went the cheap way and that was buying wheelbearing new bushings doing everthing myself and had redrooster machine shop in robinsdale press bearing out and new one in. Hope that helps. i'm in bc area.
