Got me to thinking, why people are selling used sti transmissions for so much money (5K+!) when you can get a brand new 07 sti trans for the MNsubaru price of $3904.00, PM me with any questions.

Are you talking a full swap for a WRX or just the transmission?

Full trans, all you would need would be axle stubs, automatic trans driveshaft and a 3.90 rear diff

    quoted off the thread

    Okay guys.

ANYONE that wants the same 2007 STi transmission that I got can get it for....

    ****drumroll*****
    $3750

PM thekingofparts and talk with Tristan.

Keep in mind that this is for the Transmission only. All that comes with it is the gearbox, a new clutch cylinder, throw-out bearing, shift fork, DCCD and wiring on the trans side only.

If you have any question as to what is needed for a 2002-2005 WRX pm me and I can get part numbers for you. 2006-2007 owners will need a little more. I'll post up a new thread with all the info when I get a chance.

so now the question is, why is the '07 sti transmission cheaper then previouse years? i think like $1200 cheaper. What did they skimp on? or what did they change? or did they just get a hellova deal on the manuf process?

would the sti trans swap be a good gear ration match for a wrx with the 2.0l?

I dont know the for sure answer, but this was taken from that same thread on nasioc

    -transmission
    -driveshaft
    -6 speed shifter and assembly****
-6-speed clutch fork and slave cylinder for 2007 sti
R160 rear diff (02-05 wrx)......(i thought you needed a r180 rear diff with axles?)
    6 speed clutch and flywheel
    Circlips from 2004 sti
    DCCD wiring
    slave cylinder
DCCD box, or spider unit, or simialar programmer
"the only way to get FULL functioning dccd is to swap in the dccd computer and abs unit from an sti along with the rest of the sensors."

again this was all taken from that thread with the same people asking the same question.

wray's done it.....I've got diagrams, for whatever that's worth

but, as you'll notice in the above list, doing it with the stock controller isn't an easy project. talk to piddster about aftermarket controllers, he's researched them, and has one in his car.

Unless subaru changed it, you can use any turbo slave on the 6mt. I have a WRX unit with a Legacy SS master.

    Axle stubs - 38415AA110
    circlips 805329010

These are what I used to put the 6mt in my car. If your axels have the stubs machined as part of them, you just need the seals, AFAIK.

You don't need an R180, just a rear diff with a 3.90 ratio. I'm using one out of a '92 Legacy Automatic untill I put this 3.90 VLSD back together from, I think, a '99 Impreza.

Center diff isn't nessecarily "open" but with the torque bias, it will feel as if it is. I'm using Spiider's auto controller, and its well worth it. Mush simpler to install, and it very effective. It has a high resolution 2 axis G sensor and a TPS input. It uses several modes of logic as opposed to lookup tables like other aftermarket units. The auto unit also has a thumbwheel to set the "agressiveness" of the controller. People have even used it in rally and have been happy with it.

If all you're worried about is frumrolls, don't get it. For everything else, its worth it.
