Been a few years (10 or so) since I was there but if you like history stuff the Arizona and Mighty Moe are a definate want to see. Angel Falls is also really cool and its a very nice hike to get up there. Spend some time on the beach watching bikinies and bring lots of $ cause there is nothing cheep in Hawaii.

what island? i stayed on Oahu in Waikiki and had a blast. don't remember when whale season is but we were down there for that and that was cool as hell. went on both a private tour and one on a big huge boat called Atlantis. and trust me the big boat was ten times better! they also have submarine rides too. went on a catamaran ride and that was a blast. well pretty much every thing was kick ass there except being there with my ex. oh and check out the north shore.

Snorkling at Haunama Bay is great, unless the jellyfish are in. Trinket shopping at the international market square (dont be shy about haggling) in Waikiki. Drive up to the Pauli Lookout (main road which splits Oahu). Driving around the island of Oahu (stop on by the North Shore and Sandy Beach-not really sandy, more rocks than anything else, quite painfull). Mai Tai's at the Hale Koa Hotel. Kona coffee (100% Kona, not the blended stuff). Shore Bird Grill at the Outrigger Reef (cook your own food).

I've never been to Hawaii, but I've been on several whale watches and every single one of them was simply amazing.

what a kool topic. I have personally been to hawaii 11 times. Ive only been on the big island, maui, kauai, and oahu just to transfer planes. sounds like you have a very well rounded trip. Hawaii in my opinion is very crowded. i was only there twice when i was young but i thought it was really fun to see the flowing lava on the east side of the island. maui is very nice island. very well rounded and not too crowded. i took a helicopter tour around maui, that was also a blast. Kauai was one of my favorites. very very low key and very small population. almost no tourism just the locals and strait beauty. i think you and your wife will very much enjoy that island. when your on kauai you need to go see the canyon. forgive me if i forget the name but its amazing. its kind of hard to see it all when you only spend a few days on each island. whale season isent till march so you can almost count that out of the picture. other then that there is plenty to do. My one suggestion is that if you can get up really really early and its a clear day, go to the top of maui and watch the sunset come up over hawaii, its unbelievable. if you want more ideas feel free to pm me

    hey

Ive been on a few whale watching trips and they have all been off the island maui with great results. There are many places to sign up for one in the town of lahina on the west side of maui. if you happen to stay on that side of the island there is cadamaran boats that drive right up to shore. you can have a full out dinner and whale watch on the cadamaran then it will drop you right back off at the beach. generally they pull up in front of the whaler hotel or the hyatt. in that area. Like i said whale season isent till march. if you want to go see the whales now you u have to go to alaska. God just talking about it makes me miss it so much. one thing i also enjoyed about staying at the whaler is that if you get up early in the morning to go snorkeling around 6 or so you can normally catch the group of green sea turtles that like to hang out in the morning. all in all i dont think its possible to have a bad trip in hawaii.... : )

I have been there a bunch of times. We enjoyed Polynisian Cultural Center (way cool) on Oahu, North Shore for sure the kite sailing is insane there as is the surfing, Climb Diamond head (bring a small flashlight), go to Pearl Harbor, its emotionally intense.

the big island=alot of black rock...didnt do much there.

Kaui-Must see Waimea canyon (bring good walking shoes and hoof it in...soooo worth it), be ready for chickens everywhere! Drive the entire road (only goes about 1/2 around the island) The north side is pretty cool...cliffs, jungle, waterfalls, many hidden beaches, caves. Eat at Brickoven Pizza.

Been there 3 times in the last year. I'd say try and hit the north shore of Oahu if you get to that Island. In addition to Pipeline there's also the Lost set and there's the city of Haleiwa which is kinda quaint. Then of course there's the USS Arizona Memorial and Diamond Head.
