Oh great, that's just what we need  More goth idiots thinking that RHPC is the best thing ever, and trying to do the time warp. And do half of them even know what the original is about? heck no! it's "ZOMG TIM CURRY WEARS FISHNETS LETS ALL BE LIKE HIM"

    lame.

I am not even sure anymore really. It used to be the music ... now all "emo" kids dress the way that I did when I was 14, and base their look on things that are stupid and lame, like cutting themselves and being whiny. Back then, you could divide people into 2 groups: the goths, who wore lace and liked vampire stories and old victorian stuff, who listened to slower music (read, dead can dance, the sisters of mercy, etc), and the Industrials, who liked heavier music, wore chains and ripped up jeans, and were a darker version of punks. These are also the ones who were falsely labled "nazis" because most Industrial music came out of Germany, and was sung in german. (KMFDM, laibach, DAF, etc) I always fell into the "industrial" category.

So yeah, I just don't know anymore.

Not all rocky people are goths (actually, the goth, emo, etc.. population is quite low at the shows), and most of them know that the movie sucks nuts. I've been a part of RHPS (as well as a live stage version, but that was just a plain old job) for over 5 years.

It's hard to describe, I hate the film at this point, but I love the environment and the people, so I keep going. Plus it's the one place I can yell things that would normally get me lynched.

I just don't understand why you'd remake such a crappy film. The "cult following" people will avoid it like the plague, and most everyone else just won't give a crap. Re-doing Psycho went sssooo well, and that was a remake of a good movie, not a crappy campy one.

That is exactly why it's being remade, there is money to be had in the 'cult following' - it's a market that is untapped yet. They are doing it to make money.

Granted, the 'cult following' of RHPC isn't very big, but don't tell that to the marketers.
Remaking a movie is never a good idea, it will not be as cool as the original - because it WAS an original. I donno, rhpc is funny, but I never really got into it. I never ... saw the draw to it really.

people of that following (currently) make me scared. like I just picture people like that having a weird fantasy about watching people die. like if I needed help medically they would be like take him to the cellar and lets watch him die!

I guess its a tossup between them and the hippies. if I was in need of medical attention around a bunch of hippies they would just be like "drag him over to the healing tree, mother nature will heal him!" oh god im have shivers.

It's far from everyone's bag. I predict that if it gets made the same thing that happened to Shock Treatment will happen to the remake. Ever heard of Shock Treatment? It was the "sequel" to RHPS, but not really a sequel. I personally like it more than RHPS, but it too is a really really crappy film.

No one knows about it, and there are only two remaining prints.

I see how that could be precieved, but honestly, the majority of RHPS people are plain old people, with "normal" day jobs. Mostly they're a very caring bunch of people, and far from that stereotype. But I think that's a large part of what attracts people to the scene, being able to do something "taboo."

that being said, I have run into some real real real freaky people at rocky, but most all of them kinda get shoved out gently.

My friend from ameriprise is the current RHPC "mom" She does it every weekend, has been for years. :)
She always tried to get me to go, but yeah, not my thing really. I went once when I was younger, it was a lot of fun, don't get me wrong ... but I get scared off easy by the crazies. I wish I could remember her name. I'm a bad friend :(

    AAAHHHHH, Mom!

I know Mom well. (Although I still only know her as Rocky Mom. She's told me her name, but I always just call her rocky mom) I too am a bad friend. If you see her ask about Matthew. She has some stories about me

I blame serial killer movies for promoting goth and underground people this way. And the idiots who took their musical influences too seriously and started shooting up schools. (re: columbine. I was in high school when that happened, and promptly shed my trench coat, because I didn't want to be labled a killer) Now everyone who wears makeup is secretly "JigSaw" or everyone who listens to KMFDM or plays FPS games is going to shoot up a school. Mass hysteria ...

Tim, be who you want to be. If someone is making you uncomfortable, you can choose to be away from them. A few bad apples always ruin it for the entire bunch. Most people who like hard and evil music are good people who have regular jobs and pay their bills on time :) History will always repeat itself, I just wish kids these days had better music to jam on when they go home crying because some retard at school thinks they're a nazi ;)

Was she short, kind of overweight, chain smoker, long dark hair, glasses, very plain looking with a boring voice ? In her 40's, at least? :p

Oh yeah, that's her. She's currently in Sweden though visiting her 20-something hunky boyfriend.

although her voice is far from boring at RHPS.

    Very small world
