Correct me if im wrong but doesnt the sti owner manual say it's fine for the winter as long as it's 3/4 full or something like that? If not, you can always use windshield washer fluid instead of water. Also, I remember having this discussion already. I'm sure it's still on here somewhere...

i have heard the 3/4 thing before too. doesnt really matter i guess. you prolly wont need the IC sprayer in the winter anyway. just gotta find a way to direct mounds of snow into the hood scoop.

Mine didn't freeze either and I left water in it. The risk when you empty the tank and the hose from the tank is because the hose to the sprayer will get mostly empty and freeze and burst/crack thus causing a door or carpet sprayer instead of an intercooler sprayer. Leaving water in the tank only 3/4 full allows for it to expand in the tank if it does freeze and therefore not break the tank or hose. I won't get into the thermodynamics of it.

I left mine partially full last winter; it would freeze up on occasion, then partially thaw, resulting in a big ice chunk floating around in there. Then it clunks all the time and you wonder "what the hell is that" and then you remember oh yeah, that darn tank.

Have read about dumping alcohol in there so it doesn't freeze, but depending on how well the water and alcohol mix I'm not sure how well that would work...

and mine appears to have some crud growing in it so I need to empty it and sterilize it anyway.

LOL, gotta love having things grow in your STI. It's like a rolling laboratory. Don't most STI owners have heated garages anyways?

I read something about not using wiper fluid... not sure why. Maybe the color can stain the IC...? anyway just dump in a cup or so of rubbing alcohol, it doesn't take much.

yes sorry my 'washer fluid' is a homebrew mixture. not blue
but it won't ever hit the ic anyway.
i swap the feed line from the ic spray to the wiper nozzles.
