I just saw this when I was watching Spike.

I laughed that someone would do this. I guess you would get some gains but I just think it is a stupid way to boost. Gotta be a huge lag on that thing due to both exhaust and compressing sides. Nothing like having the air intake back my the rear axle.

did you watch all of the show???:ugh: i think they gained over 250 hp at the wheels with a basic handheld tuner. And there was very very little turbo lag on that setup. And if you were to put all the intake tubing from that setup and unwraped all the tubing +intercooler from a suby with a front mount, i dont think there would be that much diffrence. And if your not looking to do major modfications in your engine bay, and to your headers this is a great alternative.

I agree, the intake by the back is a crappy idea, but, supposedly it makes good power. Less of an intercooler (if any) is needed because of the long track back to the intake manifold.

Its a good half-assed turbo, imo.

I did not see most of the show... homeowrk. I would think you would still get a LOT of heating from compressing the air. Sounds like they make good power though... still seems strange to me.

This is pretty much THE turbo route to go for F-Bodies. Other than custom drag setups, every Turbo LS1 I've seen uses the STS Remote Turbo.

Why laugh? Because it's different? Look at the data sheets. These systems work, and work well!

Yup. Look in the engine bay of an LS1 car and then tell me where you'd mount the turbo. There's really no room for one.

remote mount isn't that uncommon and if done correctly it works without a hitch

Think about it. Chevy (V8) motors are MADE for low-end torque. Always have been. By the time that torque has done its job, the turbo is already spun up. They're not losing any power by putting a turbo in place of the muffler, that's for sure.

I was actually thinking about going F-body and getting one of the STS turbos, but... I love AWD.

That's weird seeing exhaust running to the FRONT of a car....

I really want to see what the ground clearance is like. But if you have ever looked under the hood of a cobra there is no other way to run it. Hell you cant even pull the valve covers with out tearing the whole car apart. Its easier to just pull the motor. Its sad cause I know this from personal experience.

    Anyway, turbo V8s FTW.
