I have been thinking that by removing the post counter, it might reduce the amount of random/worthless posts which seem to accumulate continuously on this site. I vote for ending a spree of 8,000.
I don't think there are enough "worthless" posts to discount your post count. Plus, you'd have a bunch of yours removed ... right? Anyway, it helps to see which members are the most active, I say keep it there.
Sorry, you don't hit 8000 then say "Ok, no more post counts." Keep them. Like Aegis said, it shows who is active on the forums.
well i think a post count is somewhat of an indicator on how active they are on the boards, i think getting rid of them would silly
well my join date is wrong then . i was hear from the start but never joined due to being a complete ***** due to failing at spelling.. oh and lack of the inter web skillz..
Martin, you fail. Leave it the way it is, this is the only forum where I have over 1000 posts. It was a life long goal that was completed, I'd like to be reminded of it everytime I post something so I can see my number go up :biggrin:
i can see martin's point seeing 7,000 of his posts were whoring... jk. but it is a reference for noobs but most of us that frequent this site know the heads. i say either way means no difference to me. maybe add extensive levels of exp. (subie dude etc.)
when one of the biggest posters on the forum is on my ignore list, and I'm missing ZERO technical information. yea.....post count doesn't mean jack. I wish they were gone. but too many people here value them. so they won't go away. I've accepted that.
Must be me, I am really hurt, no not really, I dont like you either, never have, However I like how you love the older subies so much, because I do too. i wouldnt care if you turned the post counts off, i post wayyy too much anyways and dont need to be reminded.

haha all you guys are funny :laugh::laugh: but seriously-on topic i think we should leave it, not only is it kind of a stupid achievement to have more posts than the other guy but its also (like everyone else said) a good way to see who is active on the forums and also to who you should listen to when in desperate need of an answer or two. << but i guess if you were to take what i just said into account my typing my heart out wont change a damn thing. +1 for leaving the post counts to stay!
My reason for wanting this is not to go out on top, or be the post king, ect... Alot of people try very hard to increase their post counts, and sadly this leads to a lot of worthless thread which tend to get out of control very quickly. My thought was that by removing the post counter, no one would be attempting to pad their count. fewer evil junk threads. The reason I mentioned my large post count was just to show that it doesnt matter to me. 8k+ posts is an acheivemnet (i have to admit it is cool) but I would rather have a cleaner site than have a high post count.
