Been looking at used subies (imprezas) and most of the ones I find seem to be down there ... but I live 4 hours NW on I-94 from there, and no one would let me drive 4 hrs home and back just to get the car checked out.

    So, who would you reccommend?

    Thanks in advance. :)

I have no complaints about Bloomington Subaru (Scott Puttnam - He's who I bought my new '07 from). BUT, I bought new. No word about used there tho.

Yeah right. While Duluth may (by like 10 miles) be physically closer to Moorhead, it is a COMPLETE pita to get to when compared to simply jumping on I94 and heading to the metro area.

Although I didn't end up buying from Morrie's, I went to the one in Brooklyn Park and Minnetonka and the people there were absolutely wonderful and straightforward, quite a releif when shopping for a used car :)

    PS- Ray is nice too

st. cloud suby is pretty good too, haven't bought a car there, but the service department is awsome, and very reasonable.

Well I've bought 3 new Subies in the past few years -- all from different locations: Mtka, White Bear, and BP.

I got great deals on all of them and will probably end up doing business again in the future (assuming we don't get a 911 or Lotus next :p ).

When I was looking for a car one of my stops was Brooklyn Park Morries. I had already found what I considered a good deal on a car at a smaller place (car was parked deep in a cramped area and we agreed on a test drive the next monday). On to Morries, I took a nice car for a drive, the sales guy eventually started getting into numbers and I told him he'd have to go a bit lower, he asked where I was getting my numbers from. Being the trustworthy guy I am, I told him about the car I was looking at to give him a fair shot at competing for my sale. He just wasn't willing to go low enough and we parted ways on good terms. When I went back to pickup the car I mentioned earlier the guy asked if I had been to Morries, I said yeah, the other day. He said the Morries guy had called him (the times lined up to about 10 minutes after I left Morries) to try and buy the car out from under me.

Maybe I'm just too naive/trusting, but that left a pretty bad taste in my mouth about Morries. Maybe the rest of the people there are great *shrug*, I'll probably never find out.

I have only visited the parts dept at Bloomington Acura/Subaru, but they have been extremely nice/helpful on every visit.

I'd say that in general you'd have to blame the saleperson rather than the company for shoddy practices.

I think I covered myself on that point. This is one mans experience with 1 sales guy, It will get lost in the mix of good reviews if it is the exception and not the rule.

Best of luck to the OP, hope you find a car you like =D

Yeah, I'm sure the Minnetonka sales managers have never done anything wrong

Every dealership at some point or another has managed to upset a customer or do something that could be considered or construed as shady or unethical. As much as it pains me to say it, it seems to be part of the business and it's one reason I got out of sales. Am I saying that every dealership is bad? No, there are plenty of good ones and I happen to think that I work for one of them. Just like any other business, there will be good stories and bad stories.

it isn't just in car sales...real estate, lawyers, retail, etc...Anything involved in service/customer service has there flaws...regardless of what people say...car sales always 99% of the time takes the fall for everything, hence the bad reputation/stereotypes salespeople get..

The only time I do that is when we don't have a part in stock, but thanks for playing. What exactly does that have to do with sales?

I didn't send Fuji anywhere. What are you babbling about? The only thing I can think of is he called me and thought it was you guys. I don't send anyone anywhere if I can help it. If we don't have it and you guys do then yes, I'll send them over.

Yeah, I talked with Fuji and Yang this weekend on a harness but I didn't send them anywhere. They're swapping an EJ205 into a GC and are trying to source the harnesses. Could have been a mixup in phone numbers, but the only time I'll send anyone down there is if we don't have it. Wouldn't make much sense otherwise would it?

When I send people down I call beforehand with a part number and give you a heads up they're coming.

The story gets even more confusing. Guess who is standing here next to me? Fuji and Yang...

Bloomington can suck it... wouldnt give me or my girlfriend the time of day.

She ended up buying from White Bear Acura (/Subaru) and I bought out of state. We couldn't be happier with our purchases/experience.

I've since referred 2 people to Ray at White Bear Subaru and they have been more than happy with everything.

BP has been very good to me parts-wise too!

ps, fuji can suck it too lol

to be on topic for once...

I bought my 03WRX at Minnetonka back in 03... Marlane was the ladies name.. she was about 55yrs old, and told me to drive the car like she wasnt in it, to see if it was what I wanted... ha ha I beat on that thing.... then she got me the keys to the one I actually own.. was the managers car he was using.. I beat the living piss out of it in the snow, e-brake slide, donuts etc... my wife was asking me why I was doing that and I was like I wont be buying this one... (bad attitude) but we signed that day and I bought the car I beat on... ha ha haven't had an issue with it really in 63K (got it with just under 1k)...

Brian is awesome for parts... very helpful
    Ray is just sexy
and the guys at MTKA (parts) are helpful too....

cant say I have dealt with anywhere else... Burnesville I have for some parts for my shop.. seemed ok
