Winter wheels went on and I need to reprogram the TPMS. Firestone installed the tires and wheels and were unable to re-program it. Subaru wants $60 to do it, and I'd rather put a smiley face sticker over the TPMS warning light than spend that money. Anyone have a TPMS reset tool I can borrow? I don't know the TPMS IDs...so I'd need a scan tool as well. Can anyone help? Thanks!
You can probably get them reset for much cheaper than that through an independent shop. What part of town are you in?
If Firestone was unable to reset the light, they should try to find you a solution. That may include paying an outside source to do it.
Did you try turning it off and turning it back on again? Try @1_sic_rex or just call around to various tire shops. Also, dbab you big dumb idiot.
Jeff the alignment guy has the scanner to reset the TPMS. I just used it last Saturday and am headed there this afternoon to program the finace's car. He usually charges a very minimal amount to use the tool, especially if you do it yourself (it's super simple). Email is best way to get ahold of him.
Yep, Jeff did my reset for me a few weeks ago. I was going to suggest him if you're in the area (Golden Valley).
When I stopped in at Pep Boys tonight, it sounded like they would charge between $30-35 to set them up. I'm all for the sticker/electrical tape/ignoring the light.
Ignore it if it is only for the winter setup. Heck, I lived with it for 3.5 years with my last car (no TPMS at all in the wheels/tires I used despite the car having the stupid feature). I also have a TPMS light on now that I'm rocking the winter set on my Outback. Otherwise, you could spend the $150 on a reset/recalibration tool from Amazon. I've thought about it but really don't care in the end the light is on.
Pull gauge cluster, remove bulb!? Profit? I'm overjoyed that my bugeye lacks the TPMS, amongst other things!
