Hey guys as many of u know I have recentally purched some rims from a friend. To be honest I have no clue about rims and offsets till yester day when fong and justin explained them to me so I went and found out what is the offset for them and I found out that they are 40mm, so now I am thinking again about them. Just to let u know I have not paid for them yet the price is dam cheap, but I know 40 is not good for my car any suggestions, and does anyone know whats the worst that can happend if I keep them. Here is more info on them...

i'm sure you could use wheel spacers. the smaller the offset the closer it is inward. the offset should be around 47 to 53. just go to your local auto store and they should carry them.

I have to disagree with you, dude. Wheel spacers decrease wheel offset even more. It places the center of the wheel more outward. This puts even more strain on the moving parts of the hub.

i believe it is the smaller the offset the further the wheel sticks out. Its reverse of what you would think. The closer the center of the wheel(where the bolt holes are) is to the center of the entire rim itself, the more the rim will stick out. Sorry for the crappy explanation.

So is there any soluations to this issue other then buying different rims. Because I really don't want to go lower then 48mm because lower then that would mess up my hubs is that correct :?:

The side effects of a much-less-than-stock-offset wheel:
    - "sticks out" further toward the edge, which has the additional side-effects of:
--1a. possible risk of rubbing on your fender liner or fender lip.
--1b. slight change to the effective suspension and steering track.
--1c. different forces on the wheel bearings than originally intended.

For regular ol' street driving, if you don't notice 1b and you verified that 1a isn't going to be a problem, then it'll probably be okay. Wheel bearings don't last forever ANYWAY, and they should hold up alright if you don't drive it super-hard (e.g. regular autocrossing). But if you drive it THAT hard, you probably WILL notice 1b.

*1b details: negative-offset wheels (read "offset LESS THAN STOCK", which applies to these) cause an increase in steering effort as well as steering wheel kickback when accelerating around a turn. A 15mm jump will probably cause a perceptible difference, albeit subtle. Just guessing, really, I haven't experimented.

They look really good on your car, so if the price is right, and you aren't gonna race it hard, I say go for it. But FIRST make extra sure they won't rub (1a). If you have to roll your fenders and/or buy new narrower/lowerprofile tires for the whole set just to avoid rubbing, then they really weren't much of a bargain after all.

I agree, I think I am going to try to sell them and buy right ones, because I already noticed 1a, 1b, and 1c. Yes, they are completely not good so I think I might have to get different ones?????

Guys I was looking at the Tenzo rims that are for sell and the offset on those are 45 so they are still not what I am looking for..I don't want to go lower the 48mm.... I am going to put those rims up for sell or trade...
