I have a 2004 WRX sedan, and I am in the marked to get a roof rack to haul bikes, and maybe cargo. I have been looking at both models from Thule and Yakima. Recently my dad (02 WRX wagon) reminded me that he had bought the roof rack accessories from Morrie's when the car was purchased... So now I have BNIB cross bars and the feet attachments for a wagon. The crossbars regardless will work fine, but I am not sure if these nice, Yakima footings will be usable on my sedan. Does anyone know if I have any options with them, or if i will also have to pick up new footings (like the window mounted ones) or if there has been better experiences with one style of the other? As of now, I am planning on sticking with Yakima because of the crossbars that I have now. Thanks for any help/advice! Cheers!
I know nothing about these things but looking at the Yakima site, it looks like the same parts are suggested for either car. I could be wrong though. Maybe just toss whatever you got up there and see how it works.
Yea, your best bet is to test-fit and see how it works. Are there any part numbers or anything on the parts you have? wouldn't be too hard to look up their application. If the wagon had factory roof rails, there are yakima attachments to mount the yakima crossbars to the factory rails, in which case they will definitely not work.
My suggestion would be to look at Yakima's Fit configuration tool for both vehicles and see if they suggest the same. It's really a pretty good tool. Steve
With out the factory rails, these Q towers I have found are basically useless to me. So on the upside, I saved a lot of money for the cross bars, but now I will need to get the right Qtowers to attach. Thanks for the help guys!
