Here's my other Japan build thread, if it belongs elsewhere please move, but since I've documented my adventures thus far I figured I would post this here also.

When we pulled my drain plug, we got straight “tap water” for about 30-45 seconds...then oil. As you can see in the pic though, that is NOT “tap water” in the garage. Buuuut, my internals did not look like yours did, sheeesh! She really looked like a nacho cheese dorito with all of that spicy orange flavoring in there! Excited to see what the next episode brings!
Holy hell what happened there? My RX-8 went through hurricane Harvey in Houston and I imagine they just never drained out the water.
20 or 24 inch storm drain collapsed during 6 inches of rain in June of 2011. Backed up into our parking lot and garages. Probably 100 or so cars. @derp had an Audi up until that moment...then he got himself a Legacy wagon and the rest is history. It was a total tear down and the hybrid motor build had 10k on it. It was a sad day!
Nice! Maybe I missed it, but just curious why you had to travel so far to find a 6.0 donor? Looking forward to see you shoehorn that thing into the Mazda
Hey Joe, I don't think I mentioned it but the van was a write off from my dad's business so before it went to the junk he told me to take what I needed. That helps a lot in the budget department, and for now I'm going to keep the auto. With a few minor mods I'll have a 400hp RX-8 that my wife can drive also. I've only got like $1200 into everything (chassis, towing, etc) thus far so with some more DIY I think this will be a cheap fun build.
Ohhh, that makes sense! I just kept thinking to myself, this guy that Evan is buying this motor from is very accommodating - letting him use his garage, forklift and presumably, tools! LOL Good deal man, definitely a cool project!
It was a tight squeeze with the truck oil pan, fits much better with the LS1 pan. Overall the RX-8 works very well with the LS based engines, probably better handling with an all aluminum block, but thats always something that can happen later.
