Hey all, finally got the new motor in and tuned. The numbers seem really low for the setup, but I'm working on changing that. The basic list is: EJ257 fully built shortblock, 2.0 stock heads and cams, high compression (9:4-9:8), 20g, EWG, STi TMIC, 900cc injectors, 91 octane, and all of the supporting bits. 267 whp 279 tq on a Mustang Dyno... Still a fun wagon though! BTW, it runs much better at half throttle, not sure why. At wot the EWG chatters and it feels held back, I think half throttle is just as fast. Anyway, let me know what you think. http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h164/ParkPointGSR/?action=view¤t=IMG_0783.mp4
ron tuned my hybrid swap like a year ago with stock internals and heads (2.5 sti short block, 2.0 wrx heads, sti pinks walbro 255 wrx turbo running like 17 psi) I made 230hp and 300tq at rs
It's a Tomioka, wasn't necessarily my first choice, but better than the VF39 that was originally planned. It's about 19psi at wot and 14 at half throttle. It baffles me that 14psi is just as fast/faster than 19. It's pushing 14 in the video.
Well this engine is going back to the builder... It was eating oil pretty bad, starting rough, and the oil filler tube would leak exhaust gas when the engine was warm and we removed the cap. Did a leakdown test and there was between 40-60% leakdown between the cylinders, with air coming out of the exhaust. Rather than fixing these heads the builder is giving me STi heads and cams now, and replacing the Tomioka turbo with a FP68HTA. Can't wait to get her on the road with the new and improved setup!
Sorry to hear about the issues! Thanks for the update too. Who's the builder? Please please please do me 1 favor and run a metric asston of boost through that hta68. serious.
