yea, go to court, I got a 56 in a 30, went to court, talked the fine down from $140 to $70, and am on 1 year probation, if I don't have anymore the rest of the summer, it doesn't go on my record!

Just take it to court, and ask to speak with the prosecuter

Actually rain can be less of a factor in laser detection than sun can be. Overcase days are the best for them. And unless your V1 caught a stray piece of that beam you would never even get an alert. Laser avoidance (early detection) isn't very reliable even with the best detectors. Not to mention a lot of speeds traps only turn them on when they see someone who looks like they might be speeding and there's no way to defend against that. Or just do what I do and keep your car really dirty so there aren't any nice shiny spots to reflect off of. I call it my "stealth petina"

You are close enough to the 10mph over limit to maybe get it knocked down to 10mph or less over the limit. I think the ticket for that is $65 or something.

Not that I would wish misfortune on other people...but am I the only one who finds it incredibly amusing that just a couple weeks after buying a V1 he got a ticket??

Go to court, explore your options.

    John,

Since it's your first ticket, you can request for "continuance for dismissal" which is the probation that Chux is talking about. If you do that, the ticket will never go on your record, and thus your insurance company will never see it.. That is if you don't get an additional ticket within the probation period (1 year). Depending on the county/city, you could end up paying a little more for continuance for dismissal, but it's worth it not to have it on your record.

    Good luck!
    -Jordan

P.S. no radar detector will protect you well from laser or even instant on radar. Keep those eyes open / don't rely on detector too much!

That sucks man, I am sorry to hear that. Definately go into the court cause if they dont take it off your record the least they can do is reduce it. They will pretty much reduce any ticket if you atleast go in is what I figure cause they have done that on my two tickets aswell as all of my friends tickets. The only thing that will ever stop laser is a shifter or diffuser but even then, if they ping you and gont get a reading they will think something is up.

:( John got a ticket... Hmm it was me, then Matt, now john! I got a feeling it's not stopping there. If you do go to court, make sure it is worth it because you don't want to skip a days work ($70-$120) and only have a reduced ticket of less then $50. Think about your losses and gains. BTW, it being not on your record is way better:D. Why don't you carry a bible with you? You go to church right . I have the new testament with me in my car :D. Thats my radar detector:p. God teels me when to slow down and when to watch out ;). Haven't failed me yet. It keeps SPEEDING tickets away but NOT cops }:).

    John,

My last ticket was from Edina as well. Give me a call if you want to discuss details. Don't pay it by mail.

Matt got a ticket sitting in the Firestone lot for no front plate on the car and no proof of insurance. The ticketing officer's name was officer D i c k on a motorcycle. Apperently he is notorious for being just that. I honestly think with a name like that he obviously has something to prove or compinsate for.

As for any ticket I would recomend that you fight it. The amount of time lost from work is a drop in the bucket for the hike in your rates for the next three years. Just as others have said go to court and get the prosicutor to continue for dismissal and pay the fine.

I go to court on Tuesday to fight mine. There is no way I'm gonna pay it if I don't have to. I figure even if I do end up paying it, I will cost the court alot more than the $120 for the ticket. That is our tax money in action. Not only did the cop write down the wrong location for where I was pulled over and clocked, but he didn't pull over the guy in front of me who pulled to the side as soon as the cop turned his lights on. I also hear that they have to post speed limits based on an engineering study of that particular stretch of road. The speed limit has to be the nearest 5mph over the average. This is a national law. People don't know this **** and the man would like to keep it that way. All I know is that I'm not going down without a fight.

android...So, what happen?? How fast were you going?? I bet the car in front of you is a POS...the cop just choose a car that looks fast.....

You are exactly right. The guy in front of me knew he was speeding. He was pulled over before the cop even pulled out. I knew though as soon as I made eye contact with the cop that he was after me. I was going 44 in a 30, but the speed limit shouldn't be 30 there. It is the main road going through Sauk Rapids. I have been watching the average speed of traffic through there since and it is over 35 consistently. I don't even know if I was going that fast, but I guess if he said I was, I must have been. Can you say discrimination? or Speed Trap?

android, same thing happened to me, except it was a minivan in front of me that pulled over.. first he walked over to the middle age woman in the minivan and said "You can go" and wrote me a ticket. I could not get out of it... only $50 off the ticket. :-(
