Just in case this could benifit one person, it will be worth it. I bought my 97LGT in Oklahoma. I got it for $3100. The dealer wrote that dollar aount on the title. I had to pay sales tax on the car only because it was OVER $3000! to the tune of $272. If I would have just told the guy to write $2999 and gave him the rest on a different check, i would saved some money.

yup...sorry to hear that, I usually say $2800-$2900 so it isn't fishy (trying to avoid paying tax) and pay the difference with a separate check/$$$

Hey I showed up with my checkbook in hand ready to pay and they never asked. I gave them their $55 for tabs and went on my merry way.
