I have barely used my TV in the past three months or so, and recently i havent used it in about three weeks, i turned it on today only to find out that the picture is really screwed up. It's a 56" DLP that is approx 2 years old, and what happens is that the picture on the left and the right side turns upward, almost like the tv is smiling at me, i have the service plan through BB, where i work, and i am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what was done about it.

    Thanks

Is it after the set is on for a while???
Does it do it on all inputs and sources?
Does the samsung menu's do it???
Does it go away after a while?

I am guessing it is the DLP chip causing the problem. whats the model number?

it does it immediately, and it does not go away, it does it on every input and for the menus as well. The model number is the HL-T5676. The bending gets worse if i LIGHTLY press in the top middle of the screen, and better if i LIGHTLY pull up on the cabinet. So i am thinking it could possibly be something to do with the projection screen being out of place/warped somehow?

Every DLP TV I've seen has done that - just the Samsungs seem to do it a bit more. Its not noticeable in a movie tho.

the image is coming out of a round lens and then is being stretched, there will be some curve to the image, that is just the way ANY type of rear projection tv works.

Samsungs have had problems like this for awhile, I agree with the DLP statement. My experience with a Samsung resulted in the same problem, it was due to a capacitor in the power supply and the convergence chips that are attached to the primary board. Thank god for service plans...my estimate is 300-400 for the fix
