Well I've got an 05 Outback, wife wanted something better for the winter. I found an 04 WRX Wagon for 7500 with only 45K miles on it. Kind of knew something was up. Called the place, East Side Auto in Saint Paul Park. Checked them out with the BBB, seemed like an o.k. place. As soon as I inquried about the WRX they told me what they had done, I kind of expected it to be a salvage title. They confirmed it was a flood salvage, they said the replaced some audio components, and some other bits. Went over there one day after work. Was kind of surprised when the guy threw plates on it and said he was busy and "See you in 20-30 minute, and don't get lost." Was kind of taken a back. Took it for a spin and the car seemed pretty solid. Asked about taking to a mechanic or taking it home to go over it. Said I could have it for the day but not over night. So I took a day off and brought it all the way back to Rockford. Checked the oil, coolant, trans oil, even pulled the plugs and did a compresion check came out 135-140 on all cyclinders. Came back the next day with a check. Car drives great handles great. So far I am pleased with it. Only nagging problem is the good old p0420 I am getting but hopefully that will be taken car of soon.. Anyway kind of an introduction... Sort of... Also realized it had 03 seats, but thats alright I like them better anyhow. My 05 OBXT and the wifes 04 WRX:
Yeah it's stock, Gonna get an intake for it, maybe and uppipe and DP and a quiet cat back. Remember this is the wifes car. Nothing over the top, but yeah I want to tint the windows and I still have a set of black sill covers or whatever you want to call them from my 02, if they fit I'm gonna paint them white.
Yeah I did a car fax and it said it had been in an accident in 05 they totaled it. It had 20K on it then someone fixed it enough to drive it to 45K in IL before it got totaled under flood damage. Everything looks straight and it drives straight. The ONLY thing that dosen't line up is the front bumper and the hood. the hood over hangs the bumper by like 1/4 inch you can kind of see it in the pictures I posted.
BTW... it's a small world Chris. Glad our paths crossed again. You'll have to join us for some of our outings. -Ryan
Awesome car, especially the color, I think white looks great. Sweet to see another 04-05 wagon!
good call. I totally missed the wheels the first time I looked at this thread. I agree. White on White FTW!
Thanks everyone... Yeah the white on thie looks nice. Needs some paint work, and TLC but she runs good. Just picked up a set of 16" stockers with Michelin snow tires, woot...
My 04 sedan has the same problem with the hood not lining up right, we popped off the front bumper and seen that there was a bracket missing on the passenger side right next to the headlight. It was like $20 from the dealership if I remember right.
