Anyone have stories about letting a buddy drive your car and pert near shatting yourself!?? This thread was inspired by bovaddict's photos on "Found These". Matt's poor-poor wagon!!
Here is mine: Let my friend drive my wrx not to far back. We were at a corner stopped taking a right when he decided to let the clutch go at about 5000rpm's. He had the wheel cranked to the right but we kind of kept going straight. In front of us was a concrete road divider w/a steel fence. Not to mention a Brooklyn Park P. officer sitting at the corner waiting to go left were we just turned from! Needless to say,he didn't hit anything or get pulled over, but I was shatless for a minute! People really don't understand the torque and hp of these cars we drive and can definitely give you a scare. Btw, his daily driver is a mitsu. eclipse gts. He was stunned by how much more power the suby had!!:yumyum: Imagine if he would have driven a tuned wrx like so many of you drive on the forum. We may have died that day! Anyway, stories to share?

I've had a couple of experiences like that, one while I was driving (3 years ago), and a couple from when my friends have been driving. My car scares a lot of people in first gear comin through or out of a corner. The lag that my car has gets a lot of people too. They step on the gas and since they dont get an initial response they step harder and then wham, boost comes on and they left of quickly and and hey what do you know, another CEL saying my throttle is fubared. Ohwell, they are learning but once my new turbo comes, no one but me will be drivin my baby.

I know a fairly common one is the grinding of innocent gears!:emo: But who can blame them, i've driven manuals basically my whole life, and when i test drove the rex i couldn't find 3rd gear for the life of me!! Took about 2 or 3 weeks until i really got it down. They usually grind the h3ll out of 1st! My friend steve drove it about two weeks ago and he is a speed junky(yamaha 600 w/stage two jet-kit and yoshi pipe). His hands were shaking when we got out and he said "it feels equivilant to my bike!!" "Makes you want to take the long way home!" Which he did! Btw; i've taken the long way home since i've owned it, and never in my life of owning cars have i enjoyed red lights more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm the only kinda sacary thing i can think of was the 2nd time i drove stick, in Dupes car. sitting stopped in a empty culldasac, give it some gas and let the clutch out. i really dont know what happen but the car lurked hard core. not bad nioises or anything just one helluva lurch. that was kinda scary. nothign bad happened though.

Other than that i seldom drive others cars, and when i do i dont do anything stupid, and overall treat it better then i treat my own car. also i have let a few people drive my car, and they havent done anything stupid (that i know of). I on the other hand have done some stupid things in my own car :-(

I have let a few of my friends drive my car. But its only the people who are not stupid. I dont mind if my friends drive it agressivly but dropping the clutch a 5000 rps. I would kick there ass for being stupid. Thats just pointless abuse.

Yeah it is, but i didn't take it out on him too bad b/c he is pretty handicapped w/the manual. And i only let him do it once, after that i told him to stick w/his auto-stick!haha

yea..i did...first time i got my wagon...went to LVT's house to show it off..lol..but i said he could test drive it..but i dont have insurance yet...so...he did...and scared teh living crap out of me...he heel & toed it around soo many corners that got me scared...cause i didn't know that he was going to "test drive" it like that...but then after that...i barely let anyone drive it now...well..now..since its modded even more and more dangerous to drive, to the inexperience one, i dont let anyone else drive it...almost not even the guy SSUUBBAARRUU, cause he dont really know how to drive my car...lol....cause with the light weight flywheel most average drivers would think that the shifts would still be the same...but nope! its totally different..but thats my story

If they can't pay for what they're going to break, then nope.
I know the way my friends drive. I wouldn't let most of them drive it.
I do let my brothers drive my car, that's because they and I treat all things well with respect. I let a few other people drive my car, but it's the people who I know how to drive well....I don't let some little kid drive it.

After I get my swap running, I'm not going to let the fools drive it though. Only peopel who know how to function a car properly are granted such a privaledge.

I had my fiance stall my car 6 times in a row at a stop sign, then pulled away only to turn into the driveway and stall again, and my friend drove it home for fun, i was tired in the pass seat-he starts freakin out":the car is shaking like crazy what the **** is wrong with ur car??" he then discovers the parking brake light was on :eek4: 'dumb ass'

Let other people drive your car? What do you mean? Why?;)
I hardly ever let anybody drive my cars. Pretty much only if I'm drunk and the occasional good friend.

My roommate has had several Chevy Trailblazers which obviously are rear wheel drive... Occasionally we got out and have some beers  and he had a few too many, so I got to drive the beast home since I only had a couple! This was a while back and I hadn't had too much experience with rear wheel drive, but I was excited for the idea of a little play in the snow!

I decide to gun it a bit around a corner at a stop light to kick the a** end out a bit... Well it is safe to say that I nearly shat myself as we spun completely sideways! As I corrected it, I actually over-corrected and nearly shat myself again, then, whammo! We had spun around completely the other direction nearly taking out a road sign in the center median and just bounced off of the curb of the median, before stopping!!! There wasn't any damage luckily... Heart pounding he looks at me with the look of "What the hell were you thinking jacka**!"

Safe to say I drive his truck like a grandma now, and there will be NO more "gunning it" around corners in snow, unless 4-wheel drive is ingaged!!! ;)

Other than that, nobody really drives my Subi but me, and when my roommates occasionally do, they treat it with respect!
