I have an 05 Legacy GT and my passenger seat belt indicator (ding dong noise) continues to chim even if someone is not in the seat. There is a sensor in the seat that gets triggered when someone sits down, but the other day after my son and I got out of the car after running an errand all was good. The next time I got in the car alone, I noticed that the chim indication won't stop until you buckle the seat belt. (Looks really stupid driving around with the seat belt buckled and there is no passenger  )

My car is still under warranty, so the obvious thing to do is to call the dealer and take it in ~ but I hate to do that since I really need my car during the week. Secondly, I know that most peeps deactivate this feature, but I like it because it keeps the kids honest about using their seat belt. (you know without nagging all the time).

So my question is this . . . is the dealer my only option? Any other suggestions. My regular Subaur Guru did not return my call today :(

thanks in advance for any suggestions
