Now that I have the Subie there is no reason for me to keep my Integra but I'm seriously having a hard time letting it go... I spent a couple of hours yesterday digging it out of the driveway/washing/cleaning it out. And I even drove it to work last night, now its sitting in the heated garage at work just begging me not to get rid of it. The only storage option I have for it at the moment is a poll barn at my Uncle's (not heated, dirt floor = no good for storage). And it needs to be out of the driveway by next week because our house is going on the market. I have an interested buyer who might be picking it up this weekend but right now I want to call him and say no freaking way am I letting it go. Did anyone else have a really hard time getting rid of their first car? Info on the car: 1990 Acura Integra LS 5 Speed Manual Miles: 283,750 Pics are a little dated, she has the normal honda rust spots but its not as bad as most cars of this year and one from the first week of owning her
I thought I would have difficulty letting go of my first car, but it eventually became such a piece of crap that I just wanted it gone. If it had still been reliable, I probably would have found excuses to not sell it.
I had an 86 Cutlass Supreme. Totally did not want to get rid of it, but I had 0 garage space and was starting college. I ended up selling it and buying a civic which was a huge disaster. To this day I regret selling it...
If it was modded, that would be sad for me to let go, but its just plain like any other Honda so i wouldn't give a damn selling it.
I bought and sold 3 cars before I even had my license. So I didnt care about selling my first car. I miss my WRX I just sold. But it wasnt hard to let that go really. I also miss my old civic hatch. I didnt sell that, it was totaled. So that wasnt super hard to give up either.
that looks fairly clean for that gen of acrua. to make it harder for you, I still have my first car and will prob have it until it rusts totally out. I tried selling it and one guy was test driving and the day after the test drive I told him it sold...cant get rid of it even though it actually sucks. good luck.
Didn't have a choice in the matter with my first car, my '84 318i coupe. I got rearended at a stoplight downtown one night. Got significantly more for insurance than I acquired the car for, so I was ok with it. Now, when I lost my dad's '82 Z28 in a highway collision because a 79 year old man "didn't see me" and turned left across me, I cried like a little baby. My dad bought that car with inheritance money from his grandpa.
My dad and I both cried when an old geezer with Alzheimer's "forgot" to stop at a stop sign. Totaled his Dark Cherry Metallic 1996 Impala SS nicknamed "Bud." Engine took the brunt of it, as the bumper dipped below the truck's body-line when dad hit the brakes. Transmission bellhousing was pushing on the dash of the car--you could touch the aluminum while sitting in the driver's seat. Saved my dad's life tho. So I thank it for that.
my first car (civic) was broken into numerous times, stolen, restored, broken into again...needless to say I was ecstatic to get rid of it lol. that teg looks to be in good condition for 280k, glws
I have trouble getting rid of any car, even the POS's. Just get too attached to them with all the work that goes in. That's why my wife and I have 5 of them around most of the time. With 280k on the clock, I can see you've spent a lot of time with her. Wasn't that just a hella good car for Acura.
I just saw my first car the other day. It's been 14 years since I sold that thing. Pretty rusty and the miles must be through the roof...but fun to see. A lot of memories with that ride.
Am I a winner too? My first was an 87 Cutlass supreme, didn't miss it right when I sold it but now wish I had it back.
define modded... 2.25' custom stainless steal cat back wi/ magnaflow muffler and a gutted cat, also a drop in K&N. other than that she is bone stock. I have put endless hours of blood, sweat, tears, and many a curse word into her. I swear every other month I was replacing something on that car... But I wouldnt change a thing if i did it all over again. Its certainly not practical to keep around: cracked windshield (ALOT), warped front left rotor, cross threaded lugs on front left, broken drivers seat (sorta have it fixed...), drivers side window crank is stripped out, burns oil, burns coolant (not much). I could probably go on, but those are the major things that are or could cause problems. There is substantially more rust now than pictured, but still much less then the normal early 90's hondas. Hopefully one of these days I can pick up a another 2nd gen integra (the best year by far). Until then, the old integ was a hell of a first ride.
Carbed? My brother had "that one weird 1985-only H.O. 305 TPI" in his Camaro. Apparently it had hypereutectic pistons and the same cam as the 350 Corvette of that year, OEM. He put in new injectors and a 3.73 richmond / auburn pro posi rearend, it went like a stabbed rat.
My first car...73 Buick Riviera with a 455 4bbl, head gasket blew. Still shed a tear when the tow truck showed up to take her to the boneyard...
Then I have to insure it, even though it wouldnt be that much it would still be more than normal since im 21. Plus I just got my subie, no need to insure two cars when i dont have to.
I know how u feel, i had a hell of a time seeing my beat up crx go when i sold it... I had that thing for a couple years and had done a few things to it and put it back to how i got it... still miss it when i see it... I had a teg just like that cept mint body and slammed... sat in a unheated shop with dirt floors all last winter and nothing happend... by the way how much u getting for it?
