What a total bummer. Extremely stressing night. My 95 subaru legacy got broken into and my stuff stolen when I parked at the St. Paul River Center to attend Hmong New Year Today on the corner of Kellogg boulevard and Washington St. I was at the meters and it was close to the corner and at the front entrance of the river center. I noticed on my right mid passenger side window, there was a straight metal cut of my frame on the upper rubber ridges of the window. Seems that was there point of entry. They could have curved the window or stuck a hanger in to unlock it. Out of all cars, Why did they target the rusty 95 subaru, mine, was it an easy target? Damn, well, what's stolen white sony vaio laptop my special cutco knives my mini photo printer lots of photo printer my other mini photo printer my canon camera i'm fine with the other stuff gone but not my main backpack with my laptop. So question is, how did they get in?
My guess is they broke into your car because you left all of this stuff in plain sight. Next time leave it in the trunk or cover it up.
I saw your car tonight on that corner when I went to the Ordway. The logos stick out. :ugh: Bummer about your stuff, like Mike said before me: Parking with stuff like that in plain view isn't the best idea. Did you call the police? Were there any other cars on that street that were hit? Usually stuff like this happens in bunches, they'll hit as many cars as possible.
Thanks for checking my car out. yeah, i should have blanketed my stuff, damnit, i called the police and they wanted me to file a police report on monday, next business day. I'm not so sure if there were any other cars hit. They mainly focused on my backpacked goods. yeah, everything was packed in my backpacks, seems like they broke in took the stuff and blended in the crowd with "back packs" well, i guess the only subie rage i got was ripping the logos off, If only if I still had my wrx, the alarms would have gone off.
man, you need to invest in the alarm the GTs have. it is seriously one of the best alarms ive ever experienced, and im not afraid to jynx it. sorry to hear about your things, especially your new laptop. as others have said, cover your valuables up next time!!
codriver = ROTTWEILER Pro's: - Protects Valuables(duh!) - Cleans up after eating in car. - Does not talk back - Smells better(depends on who your dating that week) - Can Touch(Pet Only farm boys) w/no problems (compared to opposite sex.) - Cleans windows w/out asking and does not expect a "thank you" - Above rules apply at home, **double bonus** - ADD frisbee at the lake and you got women running to "you", actually the "dog", don't fool yourself, man. - Con's: - not gonna go there, not enough time or space to go further.
Real good point there, From now on, i may need to keep my car a bit more tidy and hide everything under blankets.
wow, sorry to hear dude, drove my rs there for both days so far and nothing happened yet and hopefully nothing will happen. also made sure my car was completely empty, locked the trunk so it was only accessible by key, etc etc. Hope you guys find out who it may be!
I never leave anything in my car. I also learned my lesson a while ago about aftermarket stereos and only use oem stuff now. And I take it a step further on my beater SVX if there is nothing in the trunk, I leave it unlocked! I have noticed my glovebox open when I get in the car for work lately or the door left partially open! Better than a broken window though. Sorry to hear you lost your stuff but consider it street smarts tuition.
there were sooooooo many people down there last night it may have gone completely un noticed. sorry to hear about that. if thats where i am thinking you were parked, keep in mind that side of the excel has a crowd of constant "loiters" and i have seen them going past the meters looking in every car they walk by. hope you can recover some of the stuff. and next time valet your car with me at the st paul hotel...
Here's what they didn't take to my amazement. I had my big canon mp 610 printer, my backup laptop in a laptop bag, and I actually had my sony xplode 52x4 watt mp3/cd deck with the face plate on. I'll post up pics of the incision cut that they made through the metal. doesn't look sloppy to me. it was made by a sharp professional tool.
I am sorry to hear about this, my rusty 93 l is almost allways left unlocked just so people can look in and verify that there is nothing worth stealing:laugh: a broken window would cost me more than the purchase of the car. I have also added dents and deep scratches to the exterior of my rig, this lets them see that the value of this car is so little and implies that this car would be no "joy" to ride. I learned the lesson when I was younger, never leave stuff in plain sight. people will steal anything. ANYTHING! I had dirty dishes that got stolen out of my old dogde spirit.
I do the same. Can't remember the last time I locked my 91 Legacy. I'd wake up to it with the glove compartment and ashtrays fully opened 2-3 times a summer.
Ok here is my issue with a blanket, You are telling them I HAVE SOMETHING OF VALUE UNDER THIS BLANKET! I would say trunk FTW. If you don't trust the neighborhood then use the back seat to access the trunk or always keep it in the trunk when you are not using it. If you use the back seat access it just looks like you are grabbing something out of the back of your car. I can tell you that I had a friend get his car broken into for a 12 pack of MT Dew. So people will take anything. Over x-mas last year in STL we had all 6 cars broken into and they took change. MORAL: don't leave anything in site. Especially backpacks or blankets to hide or cover stuff up. Backpacks = students = electronics blankets = valuables
