Any sound is often better than no sound..... Oh, and that thing sounds great at idle. Hot cams are hawtt.
Had the engine bay as my background on my Crackberry as soon as I saw it this morning, this thing is hot!!!!
That sounds.... really, really good. The dyno graph looks nice too, http://efilogics.com/dyno/index.php?runid1=79&runid2=0&hp=1&torque=1&gb=1
WOW @ torque curve. Stays pretty level across the board. But seriously, this makes me want a high revving H6 pretty badly. That sound is most excellent.
oh gosh. The mix is going to have a gold painted EG33 in his rocket mobile by next spring, I can see it now
I love that car. The headers are really something that brings out that exhaust note. 6-2-1 setup. The last joining piece is near the rear of the tranny. That things revs up to the JDM 8000rpms!!!! Sounds like a M3 with headers, then GT-R RB sound.
Well that does it. I just sent Santa my revised Christmas list. He better not try to stuff it down the chimney I'll be pissed!
http://www.perrinperformance.com/pages/show/32 heres an interesting article i have discovered now its not exactly the GC its the hawkeye but its still pretty interesting if you wanna have a look
how old of a car are you thinking? there is a green L impreza that was running around in rally a few years ago built by Anders ?Green? i think.
haha i mean GC8 Model 99-01 it should fit like the one in the video..but my question is..how modified does the engine bay have to be..
yea....been done a couple times. I've done wiring on 4 (just into GCs...). And people are starting to figure out what an amazing engine the EG33 really is, so it's becoming more popular. couple pics of "someone's" GC with an EG33 in the engine bay: only concern is the length. so something has to happen with the radiator. in this case, upper support was cut out, and a custom rad was made to fit where the support was: also, that perrin link you posted is an EZ30R. which is a VERY different motor than the EG33 (which is what the car in the video in this thread is running). the EZ-series motors were redesigned so the cylinders are closer together and use a timing chain, making the length only about an inch longer than an EJ 4-cyl. as a result, the EG33 is a much beefier motor (and has the same bore/stroke as a 2.2, so 22t pistons drop right in....).
thanks chux for the update..hmm so you simply mess with the front end? ah that don't seem as bad as i had thought...
^ yea ya pretty much just need to find a place to put the radiator. probably wont hurt to stiffen up the engine mounts/tranny mount while your at it.
yea, it's a pretty straightforward swap. the EG33 is the same width/height as an EJ. same bellhousing. just longer. doesn't even have the extra engine mount like the ER27. here's one in an XT6. with the stock XT6 radiator in there too: yes, it's taunting me. but mine will not be receiving a swap anytime soon.
about as easy as any. the OBD I EG33 ecu has ~6 more wires than an OBD I EJ22, and identical power circuitry.
