I know that this is a bit of a stretch, but does anyone have an old vise that they are not using that they would like to part with?

I don't need anything overly fancy, and not looking to spend a bunch. I figured I would check here before going out and buying one.

    Thanks!

FYI, a small cheapo ones can be had at Menards sub $20 for a 3" bench vise. I bought one and it works for most smaller stuff. It'd probably work better if I actually bolted it to my bench instead of using the temporary clamps though. But, the bench I put it on doesn't really have the space to clamp down large objects since there are obstructions nearby (wall, overhead cabinet, etc.)

I appreciate it! I actually did pick up a little c-clamp-mounting 3'' from Amazon, but looking for a full size also (and preferably one that can mount to the bench).

A decent vice is one shop tool you will use over and over for the rest of your life. Get something nice and useful and you will thank yourself every time you use it.

Absolutely true. Better yet if you can find an old, old vise. The vise that my dad had that was from his father's shop and probably nearly 100 years old now has taken 100x the abuse any vise I've ever bought new and I've pretty much broken all of those...

I've got a vise that I plan on replacing, I'd want something like $40 for it, though. Can get pics if needed.
