Well my insurance company decided to give me $6K dollars and let me keep my car. With that being said, Should I look for a new impreza chassis or buy a RHD front clip and replace the whole front end? Any other ideas?
get another chassis, dont mess around with welding clips on, its not a bolt on part, that whole inner fender apron will need to be replaced
i would say go get a JDM RHD front clip, but its going to be ALOT of work. and if you go that route...i will take the old motor
No just the engine. Running RS tranny, but was looking at a 6-speed before the accident. And my insurance is with State Farm. Running with everything stock and 15psi I ran a 13.2 1/4 mile time
as long as the rest of the car is good I would just replace the front end. You will probably have a hard time finding another car like that. I spent 2yrs trying to find a white rs.
are the goldies doing ok? haha, seriously tho, either way isnt going to be easy...front clip or fixing the existing
+1 you already have all the wiring stuff done. pick up a cheap L for a couple grand and swap it all over. the hardest part will be finding a clean rust free L chasis. however since you have the parts car you wont lose anything fancy like your black interior or power windows. if you find the same color you can swap over all the good body panels too.
martin has a point as well. if you talk to Chuck at Boost Factory/ RSmotors he had a line on a white L as well
Just have the front clip repaired and do all the fender work your self. I have a body guy that does stuff on the side. Let me know if you want his number. I would say your car is vary repair able.
Cha, If I were you... I would get another RS and convert to RHD. Some rs's are around 5000. Look closely, they are there, than start saving while you are swapping and get a stronger tranny later. If you part out that RS... I may be interested in a lot of interior stuff and rear brake calipers
If you were to repair it and make it RHD, it would be legal here and pretty rare. If you ever wanted to sell it, you could get a ton for it on ebay.
What's the obsession with right hand drive? Seems like it would just make everything more difficult...say goodbye to McDonalds drive through...
I agree in theory, I would probably hate driving it, shifting with my left hand would make me want to punch babies, it would look cool, however I would never want it.
hey i saw this car at raymond's auto body. i knew it was a member from here. anyway, will u part out the rims??? lmk thanks
I went through that switching to my right hand changing gears... luckily Ferrari F355 Simulator was good training for it.. h aha I actually prefer the stick on the left, as for me steering wiht my right h=arm is better for drag racing adn quick changes... ha ha seeing as I do neither anymore its doesnt matter that its on my right side
Wasn't The Arbys On The East Side, A Jdm Arbys, Once? (you Would Order On The RIGHT-hand Side) Oh, I Say Jdm Clip.
I know the arby's by 94 and white bear ave was like that. really annoying for those of us with usdm cars. Oh, and another vote for an OBS swap.
I wouldn't like it either. Its just that yuppies from california pay rediculous money for RHD cars. I'd only do it if I was going to unload it right away for a nice profit.
I totally agree. I would never pay more for RHD and I prefer LHD. Paying more for a RHD seems rediculous to me. That being said, I recently bought a RHD Sierra Cosworth (UK) because it was cheaper than the harder to find LHD shell. It would be alot more work to convert the shell to LHD so I am going to stick with it. I hope I can get used to it and its not too annoying. I suppose there will be some nostalgia value. Car will be January 4th!
