like the hotrod guys say theres no replacement for displacement. im getting some forged pistons for my car but should i bore out the cylinders a lil? if i bore them out would the block be weaker? and whats the max i can bore it out to? 20 over?
How many miles?? Why are you replacing the pistons?? If everything is fine and you are just putting in better pistons, I would just deglazed the bores and put in the stock size pistons. The only time I would up the piston size is to get rid of any imperfections in the bores. Not if you want to get more displacement, look into a stroker kit or a big bore block (I think I have seen a 2.8l). Russ
Yep, Crawford Performance makes a 2.8L monster block. There are a few other places that offer high performance blocks...Axis, Magnus, Cobb...just to name a few. You are better off going with a manufactured performance block.
i heard some guy at propulsion made up a 2.8l (ej20) that reds at 10k. i heard he wanted to start producing them. (sounds pricey to me)
If it is balanced to the extent required to go 10K rpms without blowing up, I can imagine the amount of money he would want for it. Crawford makes a 2.8L, there is a guy named Blanka8785 or somehting like that on WRXFanatics.com that is having an 800-900HP 2.8L built for him. The thread is in the Engine section of the forums, you can't miss it. It talks about what he is having done.
