Simple question, probably? Does it make any difference for the ECU's initial learning if I reset it when the engine is cold or warm? Car would be my mostly stock 01 RS. I'm thinking it might be better to run a recently reset ECU for the first time when the car's been up to temp recently rather than, say, first thing in the morning when its -10*. Or does it not really make any difference?
Well, actually, I'll be dropping in my new i-Speed reflashed ECU this afternoon. Wondering if I should warm up the car first or go ahead and run it first time cold. Or if it really won't even make a difference.
Only thing that should matter is your battery voltage. If your battery is up to snuff, you'll be fine. In addition, most EM systems check to ensure you have enough voltage before flashing.
Ah, 01 And rereading his question again, I guess he's not even asking about flashing or swapping. No, weather will not make a lick difference of upon your learnings when you reset your ECU, especially for your car. I don't know a whole ton about the ODB I cars, but I'd recommend being easy on the car for the first number of miles (this also goes for those with ODBII cars and resetting their ECUs).
Hrm, too much Florida beer and sun :hsugh:. Although I still don't know **** about the 01 RS ECU logic .
