ok.. I know there was a group painting or somethign a while back... who got this done and how has it held up... I spoke with a guy from the body shop next door adn he said ti would be better to get factory painted ones... but I want to paint mine but not have to pay too much... should I do it myself.. sand them down etc.... what products etc..
this should be no problem, i sanded my with 320 grit sand paper, cleaned it then sprayed about, three coats of paint then two coats of clear, and i drive it year round with no problem. go for it.
oh yeah you should prime it, cause it would give you protection from rocks hitting it or what ever else.
you can get 2 pre-painted sideskirts from subaru for around $250, then if you sell your old ones on ebay or something you'll be better off. Otherwise I'd sand the **** out of them, prime them, sand more, paint them, clear them with quite a few coats of clear then put some clear chipguard over that afterwards. It's not a fun process to paint textured sideskirts and have the paint stick.
I was on the group buy last year. We got them painted at Hamline atuo body. They did a wonderfull job. Mine look new, last time i saw jakes side skirts his looked the same as mine. They do an excelent and profesional job there i would reccomend them.
