Single diaphragm booster & 17/16" master cylinder, do I have the right model years?

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can reassure me that I have the correct parts in mind for a brake change.

I have a 2001 RS and I would like to change my master cylinder to the 1 & 1/16" sized MC as well as switch to a single diaphragm brake booster.

I have searched a lot, but as many of you know it can be difficult to compile the right info.

Many know that the larger MC from an SVX is a welcome upgrade. (1) Am I correct in saying that if your car has ABS you want an MC from an SVX with ABS, and vice-versa? I believe on Subaru's the ABS MC models have 2 ports and non-ABS have 4, pretty much across the board. Extra ports can be plugged, I read, but why bother if it can be avoided.

Fewer know that the single diaphragm booster is reported to provide a more consistent feel to the pedal throughout its range of travel. Most people source a matching single diaphragm booster & MC, but as far as I can tell those are only non-ABS cars. One source reports that an ABS 17/16" MC can be mated to a single diaphragm booster - "The single stage brake booster came from a 95ish non-ABS Impreza L, and the 2-port 1-1/16" master cylinder came from a 96ish ABS Legacy LS" - (2) Can anyone verify this? Can anyone make a less wishy-washy statement on the correct model years? Another source reports using a single booster with a 17/16 MC, but presumably that's on a 99 RS and its unclear if thats with or without ABS.

I continue to search for verification, but my daily driver is on jackstands with fubar'd brakes and I'm running out of time to either fix what I have (I let air into my MC damnit) or swap these parts. I would prefer to swap but need to get on ordering.

Any yays or nays, even if its a "I heard once ..." would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone here even swapped their brake booster?
