Martin.. look at the skid marks.. he hit that smallish tree....

He must have hit that exactly perfect, so the impact didn't go *anywhere* until the stresses built up enough for the chassis to explode.

And i bet thats what happened. I'd lay odds that car was stopped almost immediately after impact, and that the chassis didn't rip so much as "pop".


Damn good thing nobody else was in the car....

 

i've seen this before on the interweb the guy in the first picture in the verticle stripes is the driver.

 

First I thought, wow, 2 audi's of the same color collided on the highway - weird. Oh, that's one audi!

When I first glanced at the picture the tree looked to in good shape, I would have expected it to be on the ground if he hit it that bad.

 

At least they've got the tree taped so it won't get infected and die.

Holy bejesus!!

My buddies went off the road @ 100 mph in an Audi and flew into a small patch of woods taking down three trees each bigger than that one. The car landed straight up and down on it's nose propped up against the third broken tree. All four people in the car walked away with zero injuries.

Audi crash test safety FTW, apparently.
