Just to let everyone know, we have moved MNSubaru to a new server on Friday. We have done some pretty serious upgrades to the backend, so we should no longer be getting the cpu quota error and the site should be noticeably faster when we have a larger group of people online. Basically, we have moved off of shared hosting and onto our own vps server. We just flatout out grew bluehost on one of their high cpu plans. We were getting throttled about 3-6 hours a day on top of hitting the hard cpu limit (giving the error page) multiple times a day. With the winter season coming up, we made a decision to move to something faster and give us more flexability in the future. We have also laid the ground work for expanding the site if/when we ever outgrow our current setup. We have also set up the site for a easier transition to the new vbulletin when it gets released. Yes, we still have the blue car in the corner and yes the site still LOOKS the same. Vbulletin 4.0 will be a completely different animal. Any current 3.8.x forum skins will not work with 4.0. Basically the vbulletin team is re-writing about 80% of the forum code and with that all the templates and skins will be a whole new format. So I have decided for the time being that we will stick with our current theme and once 4.0 gets released look into a new theme. One other thing that we have done is change where the forum generates its email. We are currently using gmail to send out our forum emails. Please check to make sure that you do not have [email protected] blocked at your email location. I have already notified some of the people that I am getting bounce backs from. Along with any upgrades and changes there are sure to be a few bumps in the road. If you notice anything out of place, please let me know. Thanks MNSubaru Mod and Officer teams
Is there anyway we can get the "new topics" section back on the home page? I enjoyed that much more then "recent threads"' Mike
Well, I would have to look into changing it, but at the same time, I know a lot of people like the recent post version. So not matter what way I change it, someone will be upset. If more people want the new threads over the recent posts, I can change it. Russ
I absolutely *love* having "New Posts" on the menu at the top of the home page. Thank you, thank you, thank you. No really, thank you. My biggest pet peeve with the old site was having to click "Forums" first, then "New Posts". And it seems plenty quick enough to me. Stuart.
I WILL BAN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGREED!!! BAN THE TROLL The site looks great Russ, thanks for all your hard work!
