hey everyone. as some may or may not know, I'm moving up in the begining of october. As a big skater and snowboarder, im trying to find out what shops are good. and what shops to possibly stay away from. i found a few, 3rd lair, hot spot, alt bike&board, and Cal surf &sport. what ones to you guys go to, and what ones do you recomend staying away from. thank guys
Snowboards- Eriks Bike for the best service, wide selection, knowledgable sales reps (except chet aka Paul Revere). Hit me up when it comes time to think snow, I've been riding since 1988 and still in the industry. :yumyum: Skateboards- Not eriks. they carry a ton of stuff, but it's kinda spendy. :hsugh:
I can vouch for the medical service at 3rd Lair. I've been on a few calls there 2nded for Eriks for snowboarding stuff. I've been buying stuff from them for 12+ years now.
The Hut in Wayzata had a decent selection of skating stuff, I have always had good luck there. Zumiez in Ridgedale seems pretty good too, but I have only been there once.
Pinewski's in Anoka and cal surf in uptown. they have both or you got famila in st paul that is steve nessers shop for skate boarding
unfortunatly, i hate zumies and everything they are about. i ONLY support local non-cooperate skate shops who arent traded on NASDAQ. there several down here that have been trying to shut down our local shops, which are owned by my friends. Support your local skateshop!thanks anyway man!! (sorry so blunt and opinionated) but, thank you guys for the advise! I will be checking them all out for sure, first thing though, who sells lib tech? as a gift to myself, im going to buy a new libtech board for next season.
We sell lib tech at Pinewskis! i got 2 boards left from last season that i can sell for really cheap! Where exactly in the citys will you be moving to?? Downtown, north, south, east or west burbs?? Just becuase im sure you won't wanna travel 30 miles to get to a shop.
FOD- freestyle of duluth lol if you ever go up to spirit mt in duluth its an awesome core shop. i rode for them for a year when i lived up there if the owner- taylor is there tell him nate sent you he might hook u up with a discount
im more than likely moving to st.louis park. but down here in chicago, i travel an hour to go to the shop i ride for. so i dont mind one bit to travel to a good shop. i think we're comming up at the end of the month, to look at some houses. so, when we're there, im gonna come check out all your guy's shops.
haha, thanks man, i swear ive been there before. i go up to lutsen once a year (more now since i'll be closer) and my girl and I usualy spend a couple days in duluth going to the brewhouse and checking out the sites. so im pretty sure ive spent money there.
cool! well just let me know when your going to swing by and i"ll make sure that im there even if im not scedualed to work. give you the grand tour.
Wow, that brings up memories. I helped the original owners of FOD set-up their TENT in the front yard...when they just opened, must have been 1990 or so. Shortly after they bought a store front near the Miller Hill Mall. I bought my 1st new snowboard from them...170 cm Sims Switchblade...
awsome, thanks man! i checked out the website, looks like im set, union bindings and libtech boards. all i need. you guys carry alot of stock? i usualy ride 160-162Ws. i need to not worry about snowboarding already in july....
the Alt is pretty sweet. I have had a lot of connections with them in the past, and my dad does as well. I used to mountain bike race...so they are pretty good for bikes. I haven't checked out their skate selection since they moved their store.
