In PHX this week for work and I *believe* I saw a new dealer or C&D-like entity possessed Infiniti Skyline. Black, Infiniti badging with "Skyline" on the rear lid. Sweet sounding exhaust. Nipples are still quite stiff and tender.

Are they releasing it as an Infinity? I though that they were badging as a Nissan?

No idea guys. I was a passenger in a vehicle turning left and I heard a sweet rumble pass on the RH side. Black, 2-door Z/Gcoupe body with fat exhaust, Infiniti badging and crisp "Skyline" lettering under the Infiniti logo on the rear lid. Who knows, maybe it was akin to a WRX owner putting STi badging on their ride....:ugh:

PHX = Phoenix, Arizona in layspeak.

I've seen some Infiniti G35 with Skyline badgings on them, so maybe...?

*That*, would be retarded but maybe more likely than a sneak peek at the real deal.

    It's like buying a 330i and slapping a "M" badge on it...

Not really, since the Infinity G35 is the Nissan Skyline in Japan. They are branded "Infinity G35" for international sale. The 2008 GT-R is NOT, I repeat NOT a Skyline. The model designation will be "GT-R". The marques were separated to define the Skyline as Nissan's upscale sedan and coupe, and the GT-R as it's performance car. The new GT-R will not be called a Skyline, just "GT-R."

It wouldn't be like badging a 330i as an "M", it would be like badging a Subaru Legacy as a Subaru Liberty...or badging an Acura Integra as a Honda Integra.

Good to know. Surprised that folks that spend that much dough on their rides get caught up in the silly "badging" game.

Personally, I'm putting VW "TDI" emblems on my wagon after the VF39 swap

It is TRUE, that the skyline is no longer call a "skyline". Its "GT-R". I read the megazine the other day. Looks pretty concept and exotic. Priced at under $90k. Not bad for a 480HP car and does 0-60 in 3.2sec.

WARNING: If you dont like the "look" of the Chev Cobalt then I might suggest not buying the "GT-R"

Its only in america that it was ever common to call a GT-R a skyline anyways. To japanese people the skyline is a pretty basic car, the GT-R is the special one. The new car has zero skyline DNA so it is just a GT-R now. Its better off for it rather than adapting it off the G35.

Until I see some actual test data I am having a really hard time believing this car is going to be that fast. 3.9 or 3.8 seconds to 60 I could believe.

Theres a red G35 around the St. Paul/Midway area with a Skyline badge. He and I always seem to cross paths.

People here in the US will take the silver 'SUBARU' letters off the back of an Impreza to replace them with... (it's jumbled up for legal reasons, apparently)

So it's not as odd as you might think.

Take a look at some of the older not GT-R Skylines sometime. Most of them are quite bland looking by comparison, with some goofy front bumpers and less aggressive front grills.

very true...people throw the name Skyline out left and right when they are actually taking about a Skyline GT-R.

I don't know if this is a good comparison, but it's like using the name Neon to talk about the SRT-4...

A lot of guys do that with the G coupe. I never understood it myself when I was on the Infiniti forums, but whatever. That's likely what you saw and heard. I still like them, just not the latest skyline.

    It's MORE like...push-up/wonder bras...false advertisement.

Readymix on the otherhand, rebadged his Impreza with Impreza. A little different than calling a lime a lemon.

I just bought a new G35 and been lurking around their online communities now and seen a few ppl with Skyline badges on their cars however they dont treat them any more kindly than a wrx driver with an Sti badge on it.
