I am in need of a little opinion, since I have owned my 03 WRX I have on occasion heard a little knock, I bought it at 42k and am right now at 59k. I mostly notice it on cold days in the morning, especially if I have not driven it in a while. Today I was noticing it when I was sitting at a stoplight after the car was warm. I run only Mobil 1 5w30, and change aqbout every 2k. Does anyone else have this sort fo experience?

You are probably hearing piston slap and not knock.

If your car was knocking that bad, you'd instead be creating a thread asking why your car is only running wastegate boost.

I would take it in for warranty work, maybe you'll get a new shortblock out of it

I thought about piston slap but I would only really expect the experience that when the engine is cold. It's really not that bad, just that I don't have much experience with Subys, if it were a jeep I wouldn't think twice. It jsut isn't a reassureing sound
