I recently purchased my 04 WRX used. It has a number of aftermarket parts on it including slotted rotors up front. The other day I noticed something I hadn't before, the rotors are on the wrong sides.

Would it be a bad idea to flip them around to the correct sides now that they've been used the wrong direction? Or is it horribly bad to leave them the way they are?

Change them to the correct side and move the pads with them. They will be fine.

According to Divirsified, rotors don't care which way they're going. I'm inclined to agree with them. Of course if it's an aesthetic thing, I understand.

There acually on the right sides, I know this because that was my old car:D Thats how the Carbotechs work, trust me, I went over and over with the vendor I bought them from and that is how they go on the car. Do a search on clubwrx and you find a bunch of info on that topic.

    btw, just emailed you:)

Yeah, I wasn't sure they were on the wrong sides. I just noticed that most of the slotted rotors I saw were the other way around. I check install directions for a few different kinds (as I didn't know what these were) and all the ones I read had 'em flipped.

    Thanks!

Yes there are a few differnt kinds of rotors, 1 piece and 2 piece, I was very confused when I got them and read the directions telling me to put them on the oposite way I always saw them.

I heard the drill rotors aren't that good causing of break and crack between them, but the drill rotors are good to cool the brakes much better than the stock oem non drilled.

It depends on the brand (as far as a manufacturer recommended install). One brand I had on an old Subaru (not sure of the brand) the slots were supposed to be angled away from the caliper, while the Brembos I had on my GTI last year were angled toward the caliper (when moving forward of course).
