just a photoshopped picture now....but I think you get the idea...

start with this (borla unequal length header for impreza):

    turns into this:

add a couple resonators, and a couple mufflers....and an 02 sensor in the X-pipe....

no, I'm not going for sheer performance, as I'm perfectly aware of the fact that, in theory, this will not be the most efficient. but AFAIK noone has done it....so...I wanna try it.

    nathan. feel up to it?

Ooh, fun. Should have a good sound to it too. Why not do it with an equal length tho?

uh ohes! That looks to sound awesome! A resonator in each after the x-section, then some 3"x19" tips. muahahaa

Forgive my ignorance but what does the X-pipe do?

theoretically, if the backpressure is not equalized between the 2 banks, it won't run nearly as well. This is proven true with EA cars, a couple people tried running true dual, and it ran like crap. throw in an H-pipe, and it ran better, replace with an X...and it runs sweet. I'm assuming the same will hold true with an EJ engine...

AND, it'll give me a place to put the 02 sensor for maximum accuracy (I realize that theoretically it'll still work if it's only on one side...but the you're only reading the AFR from one bank....and I don't like that).

unequal length so the exhaust pulses get to the collector at different times, and brings out that glorious subaru rumble!

I love my un-equal lengths, I'll give up a few horsepower for the huge difference in sound. Awesome idea chux.

Chux.. that looks like a piece of cake.... pretty straight forward... would just have to get an x-pipe (make 1) or get 2 small y pipe and join them... should be easy enough...

yep, and you can buy X-pipes pre-made (which I might do, as that'll be the major flow restriction.)

other than that, it's just like welding up a fully custom system....twice. probably over winter break, I'll be in touch.
