http://www.rally-america.com/events/2010/SnoDrift/ http://www.sno-drift.org/ sno*drift is the first of six races of the 2010 Rally America Championship. It takes place Jan 29 and 30 out of Atlanta, MI. As many of you know both Ojibwe and Lake Superior rallies lost national status for this year so sno*drift is one of your "close" chances to see those rally driver's whose names you actually recognize  This is my first event driving an Open Class car - I know Dave and I are very excited to get back out on the stages! There are currently 51 entries! I hope to see some of you out there volunteering (or spectating but volunteering is where it's at!)
oh man, if I didnt have plans this weekend, I'd come watch and cheer you guys on! Good Luck Carl, Dave and the rest of the Z.T.R. Team!
yea with my current money quandary i don't think ill be able to make the trip. i was planning on it and meybe could swing it if u still needed a team member.
theyre grown men (at least by their ages) I told them both to do what they want! I feel bad though....... really I do
I will bring one of my WRB cars for parts...... But its not going to be my 04 STi! But I'm in 4 sure!
thanks again but no worries, we are set for crew Matt (Chux) as our only returning crew member for sno*drift will serve as crew chief and martin (dynapar) and anthony (izzy) will be joining as crew. There's still a bit of prep work left on the rally car and with IIRA racing it'll be a bit of a scramble to get everything finished
well the cities is closer then snow drift so i could probly make a trip down if u need help before u take off
For those that don't know, son of SNO*DRIFT is also put on as a TSD rally in early January each year in Detroit. Many teams run it as a warmup event. Here are the results http://www.detroit-scca.org/e107/e107_files/downloads/son_of_sno_drift_2010.pdf Note: The Minnesota Winter Rally in Duluth this weekend is much the same as son of sno*drift
I will be there volunteering as some kind of marshal, radio or medical or all three. And I will be bringing Amanda to run as codriver for 000. My Mom is supposed to come along but she may back out because of the cold. I can't wait to see Ken and Alex in the 2009 Fiesta! Amy
FIXt This is so damn exciting! One week from today we will be in Michigan getting ready for Sno*Drift!!!!! Whoopah!
martin and dave were over last night doing some last minute wrenching on the car. We're pretty much set now. I need to go pick up my other set of sno*drift tires and tractionize them tonight. We have to put the skidplate back on and repair some of the other underbody protection. Other than that it's time to pack up and clean the truck out.
Looks like the road conditions will be interesting. Actually, it's hard to tell what the roads will be like. There isn't much snow there now due to the rain - it's forecasted to snow this week though. It's warm right now but will be getting colder. So we could end up with a muddy top layer over frozen gravel, icy gravel, icy muddy gravel, snowy icy gravel, snowy icy muddy gravel or anything in between. Guess I'll bring a set or two of soft compound gravel tires just in case.
wow, that could make for an interesting race. Good luck with the roads, lets hope nature makes up her mind. Go ZIPTIE!
the weather report shows that it will be in the teens this week so there shouldn't be any mud. It looks like there will be some snowfall too but probably not much accumulation. Should be an interesting race!
The official word for Sno*Drift rally will be "Brotato"...thank you MNSubaru!!! I'm going to spread that word faster than an STD on Hennepin Avenue
looks like you are putting down some good times so far. 9th fastest on a stage is pretty damn good. keep it up.
Block is out after day one....ughhhhhhhh, Travis in the lead. http://www.rallybuzz.com/snodrift-2010-travis-pastrana-leads/
anything that block drives is found on the road dead.. he needs to be careful some of the WRC courses could kill him if he dosent learn to control the car
here they are for today: http://www.rally-america.com/events/2010/Drift/results/standings/ setting some 9th place times again.
We're done and the car looks like a subaru! No real damage, a cracked bumper, a missing fender liner, a leaking bov and an intermiitent cel. We got 3rd in class today and won one of the hawk brake contingency prizes. The stages were glare ice - pure hell to drive on, traction was severely lacking and a lot of cars were coming into service with damage. Updates to come when we get home. Martin took a few pics that he should post up when he's home. Thanks to martin, chux and izzy for crewing. Thanks to dave for co-driving. This was a really challenging event but I'm pleased with the results!
^^ congs man....all drivers were talking about how the icy roads were PITA, but there you go with such an experience with yielding results.
Congrats ZTR! You guys just barely made it onto Autoblog too. http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/rally-america-snodrift-2010/#11 http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog...d28814e40a500c133daca396d-police_lewiston.jpg
useless. the roads were glare ice - apparently this was one of the toughest sno*drifts in many years. If I started the car from a standing start in 2nd and tapped the gas 25% the car was sideways. I was grabbing gear after gear looking for traction - I used 5th gear on corners that would normally be 3rd gear. The brakes were fairly useless except in a straight line and if you had too much speed going into most corners all you could do was pray for a softish bank. This was the hardest event I've ever driven. Detailed write-up, pics and vids to come later -Carl #171 (I'm finally home!! Ziptie Rally Crew - be proud of what we did this weekend. Dave was on top of his game and did a fantastic job in the right seat. Chux, Martin and Izzy did a fine job as crew even with 2 of them never having been to a rally! See you in Missouri!)
