I found a good place to park near the start line on stage 2 to watch rally (wagon in the back ground behind Travis). I was very glad my medical services were not needed. I also found out Nokian RSi's rock, which I already knew. What the map showed as a county road straight through to the marshal point, I was supposed to help out on at Camp 8, turned out to be an unplowed snowmobile trail this time of year. After passing a Ford Fusion on all seasons in the ditch, yes I stopped to make sure they were o.k., I tip toed the next 1/2 mile and breathed a sigh of relief when I made it to a plowed county road. I think the tire tracks from the Fusion suckered me in until I was at the point of no return. It was extra gratifying when I was telling the marshal about my little trip and a local over heard and dumb foundedly stated, "you made it through a snowmoble trail in that?!" Here's some links to a bunch of pics from SnoDrift: http://www.rally-america.com/events/2009/SnoDrift/gallery http://www.mcpimage.com/gallery/7270146_kvePS#467334810_t88dh And videos on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=3A22B4E58BF44A5F
O.k. so this one isn't SnoDrift but you have to see Chris Duplessis tearing up the ice and snow at O'Neil Rally in his Golf. Mirra beat him by less than a minute in an awd car. That's some amazing fwd driving. This has to be the best spectator point ever... Amy
1) thank you! 2) I must be out of the loop but why is Tanner not in a Subaru? 3) Where did all these Evo's come from? 4) What does a guy have to do to get this big enough to fit my desktop?
tanner is waiting for his evo to be finished, i think he will be in it at 100aw mitsubishi is getting very popular. I think they are quite involved in canadian rally and that has carried over to the US also if you were wondering why sarassin was in a G2 car, I don't know lol
I think its great that more Evo's are back in the game and to top it off, more good drivers. This will make for an awsome season.
Thats weird that one worked for me the first time I tired ... already saw the pictures. Maybe he is uploading more.
Carl is correct in that Mitsubishi is putting a lot of money in to Canadian rally. Such as towing funds for teams and good prize money. Tanner has an Evo X being prepared by Libra Racing, John Buffum's shop, but it wasn't ready. Either that or they didn't want to risk a brand new car on the icy roads, after 2nd pass you couldn't even walk down the center of the roads they were so icy. As to where all the Evos are coming from. There are two new Evos from Poland that first showed up at Lake Superior Rally. I believe they have a sponsorship from a Polish t.v. station (they were filming all over the place) and footage will be shown in Poland. At least we'll get air time somewhere! I'm not sure, but I heard there were more Evos entered in Open class than Subarus! I asked Andrew Comrie Picard if we would be seeing his new Evo X, he used it at Targa Newfoundland, in the U.S. and he wouldn't say. I frequently find him up-side-down, or with multiple corners missing when he races in the U.S. so I don't know if he wants to do that to a new car. Amy
I though graham mentioned kyle was going to run whatever he could to get the points for the x games...while hunting down another sponsor to get cpd back in the game.
Kyle was at SnoDrift but driving the pants off a 2wd Plymouth Laser, not anything from CPD. I asked him where his new STi was and he asked if I had the money to buy him one. The few times I saw him go by at speed, he was going like a bat out of heck and noticeably faster than most of the other 2wd cars. At least one spectator swore it was an awd car because there was no way a 2wd could go that fast. The start control worker that was at stage 2 couldn't figure out why they held Kyle at the start when his start minute came up, as he just sat there for about 10 seconds. What they couldn't see from where he sat down the hill was the front tires of the Laser spinning furiously but going nowhere. Not all the 2wd guys knew to move towards the side of the road for traction, instead of trying to start in the middle of the road where the surface was polished ice from the cars starting before them. Found a new set of awesome pics http://photoremski.com:88/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=10478 Check out what happens to Zenz & Parps in the Sno1 gallery, pages 6 & 7, when the rear of their 323 tags the bank and whips them around into the snow bank, great action shot series. They get sucked into the bank and are in very, very deep.
