It just started coming down, and everyone is losing their minds. to put it in perspective, it was 137 degrees here one day this summer...so thats why it being 28 and snowing is throwing everyone for a loop. The storm just moved west to us, so we are sort of the last to get hit. My suby is on falkens...so i probably wont be doing to much driving when the snow gets deeper, especially considering the demographic. 18-30 year old guys with hotrods all over base=accident. Off base will probably be less safe. Every major highway and pass through the mountains to san diego, LA, vegas, essentially anywhere is shut down. Currently they are saying you will be jailed for trying to go through the mountain passes. They have no plows. Lots of sand and salt, but nothing to move the snow off the roads. Its hilarious to watch. Like I said, it just started comign down. I'll get more up later after its accumulated here. MOAR PICTURES, now with new and improved, more snow! Funnies
looks like you should have brought your snows down there with you. Then you could have some real fun. Although I am sure you can have fun at much slower speeds on the Falkens. I was actually surprised how well my 615s did in below freezing weather with a dusting on snow.
and pictures were taken with my $130 field camera. As in the one that has been dropped, been through sand storms, been in rain, and now its been in a snow storm
well I sold my snows xD I didnt think I'd need them for a few years. I bet this is the only snow we get the entire season. The higher elevations (the mountains) have several feet on them. My biggest regret is not having brought my snowboard down here with me. When I'm home I'll definitely be bringing my stuff back with me. There are a ton of guys with subaru's on base down here. I'm going to work hard today to see if I cant get a small meet going later, maybe in one of the parking lots on base. -Jack
AHAHAHAHA I just heard our base is getting locked down!!!! They are concerned with our security because of the conditions, so I guess everyone who lives out in town has to leave before the gates get secured both ways.
I bet every store is sold out of winter coats down there. I would love to see eveyone freaking out and bundled up like it's an arctic blizzard. Yesterday, I saved this for lulz.
the reason for the closure is: A. the age group. 18-30 year old males. B. Conditions. They are worried about people sneaking in. C. They dont want idiot guys out in town getting in car accidents D. If they shut the gate, and focus on maintaining the inside of base, we'll be fine. There is a ton of heavy equipment for moving snow around in here. Other than that its ridiculous. I think they just wanted to give us a day off. (only my battalion isn't working this afternoon.)
wow they shut down the base due to some flurries? So will they let you get away with a parking lot meet on base? I wonder if they are more willing to allow you guys to have fun in the snow, or are more strict about it. post pictures from a Cali snow meet!
gonna add more pics up top in about 5 minutes. They didnt shut down base apparently, they just canceled "working hours" for today apparently. Someone got dramatic and passed word that there was a much larger threat of some serious snow than came through. Right now we're at like 2-3" of snow fall, and its expected to continue snowing for several more hours. The gate is still open, and everyone here is still open for business, whatever that is. I got out and did some driving. Didn't see a single military cop, so far they are dealing with accidents, and assisting the civilian PD off base with blocking roads, etc. We are snowed in however, as base and the local town is located inside of a basin. All of the mountain passes out are closed.
The snow meet i'm working on right now! haha. I just got off the phone with a bunch of guys from Tanks, and I am busy getting some guys from 3rd LAR with subies to get together. It will probably be small meet with just a couple cars. There are a lot of guys who arent down for driving in the snow! I MISS HOME AND MNSUBARU! especially shenanigans meets
alright, pictures are up The dude flicking the camera man off is my buddy Wilson, a redneck from south Florida. This is his first snowfall.
Bingo, you guys nailed it. Ever think that it would snow 10" here? Me thinks not. Just got back in from shenanigans with a 3 other suby owners. We would have gotten quite a few more guys, but alas, everyone is stuck either inside or outside of base.
I have no idea who you're talking about. Ive never been to the E-club. By 'reciepe' are you talking a recipe for how to cook a gator, or a receipt for a neck gator that keeps you warm? What was your MOS Fayth?
I was talking about this lil asian lady that bartends at the E-club. Theres a drink that they make there called a gator. I was a com guy 5962 worked at the school house
lol. I was doing it too, but stopped just in time for the picture, and to make my friends look like idiots. PERFECT timing, muahaha.
